"Loren Taylor Matthews, if you ever do anything like that again, I will fucking feed you to a shark myself!" Khrystyna practically screamed at me.

She then grabbed me and hugged me until her arms got tired. She might be my best friend, but she will act like the sister I've never had.

"Khrystyna, I'm so sorry. I had to save myself and you. Also because today was supposed to be fun and we both almost died."

"Loren, it's not your fault. You couldn't help that a shark wanted to eat us. We both didn't know until it was too late. But, your right, I should give you more credit because you did just save my life. Thank you," Khrystyna said.

"Should we go get some clothes on? I mean, everyone is staring at us and we're in our bikinis," I said.

Khrystyna nodded and so we walked back to our clothes and put them on. An ambulance came 15 minutes later and a nurse pulled me aside. She saw my arm and wanted to patch me up. I let her and it only took about 5 minutes.

Once that was done, I saw Adam walking towards us. I think he just wants to make sure we are ok. Then again, he could just be walking this way but to someone else.

Guess what else is new, I was wrong.

"Hey are you ok? I saw that you and Khrystyna were the last people in the water and that you were attacked," Adam said. He really is sweet, but I can't let my emotions cloud my judgement. Deep down I know he doesn't like me the way I want him to.

"I'm fine, we both are. Although, I did have to shove our raft in its mouth and punch it below the eye." I responded.

"I'm just happy your ok. I just wanted to check on y'all," Adam said. Before I had time to respond he walked away.

I looked at Khrystyna and, once again, gave me a look. She knows I like him and what scares me is the possibility that I like him. I just don't want to get hurt again. With my last boyfriend, my emotions got in the way and I was oblivious to the fact that he was using me. It sucked and I don't want that to happen again.

"Hey, do you want to stay or leave?" I asked Khrystyna. Considering there was a shark attack and there's not much to do anymore, I'm really hoping that she'll want to leave.

"Let's go, there's not much to do anymore," Khrystyna responded. I feel really bad for bringing her out here today. But Khrystyna is right, I couldn't help that a shark wanted to end our lives today.

We gathered our things and loaded up the car. It's 12:00pm so we'll get to the hospital were Khrystyna's dad is at about 12:15. I really hope that Khrystyna wants to go see her dad. I think that seeing him and talking to him will help.

"Do you still want to go visit your dad. I feel like seeing him and talking to him will help make this day better," I asked.

"Yeah, I want to go see him while I still can," Khrystyna said.

I drive out of the beach parking lot and headed for the hospital. I can't even image what Khrystyna must be thinking right now. I already miss the soft breeze the beach had to offer, but we had to leave. While I drive, I notice two girls. One looks like she's 5 and the other looks 6. They're playing in the front yard of their house. They might be playing tag because they are running around the house. Even though I don't have my window down, I can smell the fresh scent of the rose bushes and hear the quiet hum of the bees pollinating the sunflowers sitting in the window sill.

The girls are twins. From what I've heard and seen, twins are usually best friends. They're so young and have so much hope for the world. Someday they're gonna grow up and find out what the world is really like.
