Gruvia: Afraid to Say I Love You

      Juvia POV
   
      I walked into the guild and went to sit down at the bar.  Mira was there to greet me.  I smiled and waved.
       I few minutes later the guild door opens and I turn to see Gray.  "Gray-sama!" I shouted and ran to him.  I grabbed his arm.
       "Get off my Juvia!" He shouted.
       "Why doesn't Gray-sama like Juvia!" I cried.
      "Could you leave me alone for once?" He asked, avoiding my question.
      I felt a pain in my chest.  I turned and walked back over to the bar.  Mira looked at me with concern.  I forced a smile on my face so she wouldn't be worried.  She smiled back and went back to what she was doing.
      I stared down at my hands when I heard someone sit next to me.  I looked up to see Freed.  Despite first impressions we had become good friends. 
      "What's wrong Juvia?" he asked.
      "It's nothing," I replied.
      "Stop lying.  It's easy to see you're upset," he said.  He may seem very tough and emotionless at times but he could be caring.  Not only that but he could surprisingly give great love advice especially when it came to telling someone you love them. 
      "It's just that from some reason Gray doesn't like Juvia.  Juvia loves him but he keeps pushing Juvia away," I explained.
      "I'm sure it will work out," he assured me.
      "Really?" I asked.
      "Yeah.  Laxus was the same way but he eventually opened up," Freed replied.
       "Juvia didn't know that!  Thanks for helping!  Juvia feels better now!" I exclaimed.  Just the Laxus walked up and put his arms around Freed. 
      "We going on that date or what?" he asked.
       "Yeah, let's go.  By Juvia.  Good luck with Gray," he said.  As they walked out Laxus pecked Freed on the cheek.  I chuckled and found new hope.
       Freed and Laxus were one of the cutest and most loyal couples in Fairy Tail, and knowing that they were in a similar situation made me feel better.
       I decided to leave Gray alone for the rest of the day and try again tomorrow.  It's really hard though.

      Gray POV

      I feel bad about what I said to Juvia.  Even though I'll never tell her, I really do love her.  It's just that I'm too afraid to tell her.
      I sit down and the Flame Brain walk in.  He's ready to stir up a fight as usual and I need something to get my mind off of Juvia for a bit.
       Me and Him started fighting about who knows what.  "Shut up Ice Princess!" He shouted at me.
      "Don't tell me what to do Fire Face!"  I shouted back.  I punched him in the face but he jumped back up. 
      He punched me while I kicked him and we both go flying across the room.  We both sprang back up to attack again when Erza shouted,"If you two do t stop fighting now, then you will regret it!"
       We both stopped immediately.  I went to sit back down and saw that Juvia was staring at me.  She wasn't walking over to me like she usually would, just watching.  Once she saw that I was looking she turned to look the other direction.
     I started trying to get my mind off of her when I heard a voice behind me say,"When are you going to man up and tell her you like her?"
       I turned around to see Elfman and Evergreen.  They were like the couples counselors of the guild.
      "Yeah.  We all know she likes you and practically everyone knows you like her." Evergreen added.
      "I'm not telling her," I said.
      "Why not?" Elfman asked.
     "You wouldn't understand," I said and looked down at my hands.
       "Gray.  I may not know why you won't tell her but I do know that she loves you and you love her.  Stop trying to deny it.  The poor girl is gonna snap if you don't tell her," Evergreen said.
       "In not denying it.  It's just . . . I can't tell her," I said.  "Now could you leave me alone.  I need to think,"
      They surprisingly leave.  I started thinking.  'I really want to tell her but I don't want to risk it.  I'm so confused right now.  Maybe I should.  Ugh!  I don't know what to do!  Maybe I should sleep on it'
      I decided to go home.  I saw Juvia looking at me as I walk out.  She looks sad but has love in her eyes.  I looked away, knowing that if I looked for much longer, she would notice.
      Once I got home I went straight to bed.  It was still really early but I was tired. 
I started thinking about what I should tell Juvia. 
      'I want to tell her I really do but . . . It's just to risky to be together.  Maybe I could tell her but also tell her why we can't be together.  Yeah.  That will probably be best.  I hope she understands'
      That was my last thought before I drift off into sleep.

      Next morning
      Juvia POV

       I went to the guild, ready to talk to Gray.  The minute I opened the door he walked up to me and I was so happy!
      "I need to talk you.  Can you meet me at the park tonight?" He asked.
       "Alright," I said, not even trying to hide my happiness.  I practically floated over to my seat.  "Good morning Mira!"
       "Good morning Juvia," Mira said with a cheerful smile. 
       I sat there hanging on to the bar like I could float away.  I probably had the stupidest smile on my face but I really didn't care.
      "You seem happy today," a voice behind me said.
      I turned to see Freed and Laxus.  "How's it been going with Gray?" Laxus asked.  Even though he acted like he didn't care, he did.
      "Gray-sama said he wants to talk to Juvia!" I exclaimed.
      "Really?  Did he say what about?" Freed asked.
      "No," I said and my face suddenly fell.
      "Don't worry.  I'm almost positive that he likes you," Mira, who had suddenly walked over, said.
      "I think I heard Elfman and Evergreen talking about him.  They said that he said he likes you," Laxus said.  My heart fluttered.
      "Really?!" I exclaimed.
       "I'm not sure if that's what they said but that's what it sounded like," he said.
      "Good luck tonight Juvia," Freed said.
       "What are you saying Freed?  You're the one who needs luck tonight," Laxus teased.  He was always teasing Freed like that.
      "Laxus!" Freed shouted.  His face was redder than Erza's hair.
       I chuckled.  Mira was trying to hold back a laugh.  Soon Laxus, Mira, and I were all laughing.  Freed pouted.
       "You look cute like that," Laxus said.  Freed blushed even more.  After some more laughing we calmed down.
       "Thanks guys!  You really helped Juvia calm down!" I thanked happily.
      "No problem Juvia," Mira said.
      "See you later," Freed said as he and Laxus walked off.
       The rest of the day went by very quickly.  Before I knew it, I was going to the park to see Gray. 
      I was a bit nervous but also very excited.  I didn't know what was going to happen but I had to give it a shot. 
      It didn't take me long to get there.  Gray was already there waiting for me.  "Juvia's here Gray-sama!"

      Gray POV

      I heard Juvia and see her running up to me.  I waited for her to grab my arm or hug me but she didn't.  It felt weird.
      She stood in front of me, waiting for me to say something.  "So yeah I umm . . ." I started but I have no idea what to say.
      "What is it, Gray-sama?" She asked.
      "Well I want to tell you that I do feel the same," I blurted out.
      Juvia just stared at me, speechless.  Since she didn't say anything I continued.  "But we can't be together."
      This time she spoke.  "Why not?"  She sounded heartbroken.
      "You wouldn't understand," I said.
      "Please tell Juvia why," she practically begged.
     There was no way I could turn down her pleading tone, no matter how much I didn't want to say.  "Because, I don't want to risk it."
      "Not risk what?"
      "Every important person in my life died for me!  My mother, father, Ur, Ultear.  I don't want to risk you getting hurt!  I love you too much to let that happen!"

      Juvia POV

       Gray fell to his knees in tears and I didn't hesitate to run to him.  I wrapped my arms around him.
      "I'm right her.  I'm not going anywhere." I whispered into his ear, not speaking in third person anymore.
      "Seriously Juvia.  If history repeats itself then I'll lose you to.  I don't think I could live with myself if that happened."
      "History doesn't always repeat itself.  And if you keep living in the past then you can never move forward. If this is truly what you want then I will respect that but listen to your heart.  Please Gray.  I love you," I said. 
     I started to stand up when he yanked me back down.  I felt his lips on mine and could feel his tears.
     I put my arms around him and kissed back.  We didn't break apart for a long time.  We both put all of our emotions into the kiss.
      After a long time we broke apart.  He looked at me.  His eyes were filled with confusion and love.
      "I promise I won't leave you," I said
      "I love you Juvia," he said
      "I love you too Gray."
      "So would you be my girlfriend?"
      "Of course!"
      "Let's go home," he says.  He takes my hand and we stand up.  I'm so glad that they person that I love more than anyone, loves me back.
