Fraxus: I Wouldn't Mind

   Laxus POV

School is so boring. The only reason I actually come is to see my boyfriend, Freed, more often. He's a nerd but I love him. He helps me out in classes to.
We're sitting in chemistry, the last class of the day of the last day of school. I'm graduating this year and so is Freed. He plans to go to college but I don't know what I'm gonna do.
We only have a few minutes left in class. I keep looking up at the clock. After what feels like hours, the bell rang. I stood up quickly but before walking out, I waited for Freed to get his things and walk over to me.
"Hey babe," I say. He blushes a bit.
"Hi Laxus," he says.
"Wanna go out after graduation tonight?" I ask.
"Sure. Where are we going?"
"That's a surprise,"
"Oh come on. Please tell me," he says with a pout. He looks so cute.
"I promise it will be fun," I say then walk out.
I go to my locker and clean it out completely. After that I race home. I have big plans for tonight.
I started getting ready when Freed texted me.
"What should I wear?" He asks.
"Something nice but comfortable"
"Okay. See you tonight"
"See you tonight. Love you babe."
"Love you to."
I smile then put my phone away. I go to my closet and pull out the tux that I had bought for this special night. It's not for graduation, but for something much more important.
I lay it over my bed, then go to shower. I try and gather my thoughts for the night as the hot water hits my back.
After and hour the water starts to get cold so I finish up and step out. I go out and check the time. It's 4:30 and graduation starts at 6:00. I put on the tux and make sure that I look decent.
Once I'm sure that I look okay I start to head out the door. Before I leave I grab the small box covered in soft, dark blue cloth and put it in my pocket.
He's gonna get the surprise of a lifetime tonight.

Freed POV

I put on my tux and wait for Laxus. I'm excited for graduation but I'm even more excited for my date with Laxus.
Whenever something he plans is a surprise, it means it's important. I hear a knock at the door and go to answer it. Just as I expected, Laxus is standing there.
"You ready to go?" He asks.
"Yep!" I say.
We leave and start making our way towards the school. It's not a long walk from my place. Ten minutes at the most.
We get there and put on our caps and gowns.

After graduation now because I'm lazy.
Laxus POV

We all throw our caps up in the air. Cheers, and shouts of joy ring through the air.
Cana is running around with a bottle of beer in hand, Natsu and Gray are fighting, Elfman is running around shouting "Only a real MAN gets through high school!", and people are kicking chairs down or throwing them at each other.
Our school is as rowdy as usual. I'm surprised we haven't set the school on fire yet.
"Let's party!" Cana shouted.
"YEAH!" Everyone shouted in agreement. While most people went to go party, Freed and I went our own way.
"So where are we going?" He asks.
"You'll see when we get there,"
"Your really annoying sometimes."
I smile at him and we leave.
I got us reservations at this really fancy restaurant. I worked my butt off to get enough money to go but I want this night to be perfect. I've been planning this for three months and my friends, Evergreen and Bickslow, have been a huge help.
It's not far from school which is good since anything on wheels makes me sick.
We get there at around 8:30.
"No way! How did you get reservations for this place?" Freed asks.
I chuckle a bit. "A lot of hard work and good friends. I owe Bickslow thirty bucks,"
"You didn't have to do that! Anywhere is perfect as long as I'm with you!" I exclaims. He's always romantic like that.
"I want to spoil you tonight so let's go," I say. I take his hand and we walk in. We admire the beautiful interior for a bit them a waitress takes us to our seats.
"This place is so beautiful. Thank your for taking me here," he says.
"I'm glad to. I love spending time with you."
I reach over the table and grab his hand. After a minute or two we let go to look at the menu. Nothing's less than twenty dollars.
A waitress walks over. "Are you ready to order?" She asks.
Freed orders first. She writes it down and then turns to me. "And what about you," she asks with a seductive tone. She brushes her hand down my arm.
I see Freed glaring at her out of the corner of my eye. I reach over and take his hand as I order.
She takes the hint and backs off. As she walks away, I hear her mutter,"All the good ones are gay."
Our food comes quickly and we dig in. It is the best food I have ever eaten. "What they say about this place is true," I comment as I take another bite.
"Yeah," Freed agrees. We both finish our food and and the waitress brings desert menus and out check.
     I look at the check.  It's over 150 dollars.  Luckily Bickslow and Evergreen lent me money. 
     "I have to go to the bathroom," I lie then stand up.  "I'll be back in a minute."
     I leave the table.  Instead of going to the restroom I head to the man playing the guitar and the woman singing at the front of the room.  I really hope they take requests.
     After they finish the song that there were singing they turn to me.  "Do you need anything?" The woman asks kindly.
     "Do you take requests?" I ask
     "Depends.  Is there a special occasion?"
      "I'm proposing to my boyfriend," I say quietly though I know Freed can't hear me from here.
      "Then yes of course!" She says.  She seems very accepting to the fact that I'm gay.  It's a little surprising.  She must have seen my surprise because she quickly explains,"My big brother is gay."
     "Oh okay,"
      "What song?"
     "I Wouldn't Mind by Kyle Olthoff,"
     "Alright.  Good luck!"  She says.
     "Thanks," I say before walking away.
      I get back to our table and Freed smiles at me.  I'm smile back, trying to hide my nervousness.

      Freed POV

       Laxus and I are sitting together when the man and the woman who provide entertainment started singing another song.  I recognize it immediately.

This was the first song Laxus and I ever danced to and the first song that played after we confessed our love for each other. It is really special to us. I'm surprised that they're playing it.
I start humming along to the melody when Laxus stands up. I look at him curiously.
He walks over next to my seat. Suddenly he drops to one knee. People turn to look at us.
"I know we're still pretty young and haven't been together for that long but I don't want to live without you," he starts,"There's so many things that we still have to learn and I want to learn them together. I love you more than the universe. I don't know how I got lucky enough to be with you and I don't want to let you go. So Freed Justine, will you marry me?"
I just stand there in shock. I try to comprehend what I just heard. Once my brain finally catches up with what's going on, I feel a huge smile spread across my face.
"Yes!" I almost scream. I throw my arms around him and press my lips to his. People around us cheer but I see a few people who don't like gay people.  I don't care.  I'm engaged to the man I love. 
     We pull apart and Laxus slips the the ring on my finger.  We kiss again.  I want this moment last forever. 
     We break apart again and Laxus whispers into my ear,"Forever is a long time ya know?"
     I smile and say,"I wouldn't mind spending it by your side."
     "I wouldn't mind it at all,"
