LUKE'S P.O.V

We had spent the night at Daniel's and everyone had seemed pissed off at me for whatever reason I don't remember, mainly because of the amount of vodka I had on the plane. I must've had the whole bottle. The only thing that comes to mind of the flight is 10 minutes after the plane had begun flying, was Jai laughing as well as a girl. I didn't even bother looking back. I don't even remember getting off the plane or the ride to Daniels.

I opened my eyes and checked my phone. 11:45am. Fuck not again. I looked over at the large window that overlooks the house next door to see purple curtains drawn closed. I shrugged it off and went to get up when the door to Daniel's room opened. It was Jai. His eyes were swollen and red. They only got like that when he was up all night or he was crying. I chose to ignore it.

"Hey man," I said with a laugh, starting to stand up.

Jai looked at me with a stern look and kept walking over to his suitcase. "Fuck off Luke. We're going home. Get the fuck up." And with that he grabbed his suitcase and stormed out of the room.

What the fuck is his problem? I thought to myself. I shrugged that off as well and started to get ready. As I walked my head spun. I was really shitfaced last night.

ELLIE'S P.O.V

I woke up to the blissful smell of pancakes and syrup. My absolute favorite. I hopped out of bed with a huge smile on my face and walked over to the mirror. My smile instantly dropped. I was wearing my short sleeved penguin pyjama shirt with plaid bottoms, my hair was a mess and I had forgotten to take off my makeup. I looked horrible.

I sighed as I plugged my phone into the docking station and hit shuffle. I needed some positive songs. No more negative Ellie; I needed a positive Ellie. But I knew it was going to be hard.

I walked over to my dresser and started looking through my clothes. I picked out an nice tie-dyed beater and walked over to my shorts drawer. I opened it up and saw the box. My throat felt like it had closed up.

I picked it up slowly, pausing my music, and sat on the floor with the box in my hand. My heart was beating uncontrollably. I opened up the box and picked up the cold but dead piece of metal. I could feel my eyes welling up with warm, wet tears as I looked down at my arms. My free hand raised as it traced the scars on my arm, and a small tear dropped from my eye.

It had been a month since I last had cut and it was killing me. But I had to stop, social services found out about it and soon about my parents. Cindy stepped in and I moved to Melbourne with her. That quick.

I was soon snapped out of my daze from my phone ringing. I checked the caller ID and instantly smiled; Jai. I still couldn't believe I was friends with him.

I answered it and put the blade back in the box, and back into the drawer.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hey El! You up to hangout later??" He sounded way better than last night. But he still had the tone of sadness in his voice.

"Of course! Where and when?"

"Um the park around 3?"

I looked at my alarm clock on my nightstand; 1:30pm. I had enough time to get ready.

"Yeah sure! Sounds great!! Byee!"

"Bye Ellie"

When I hung up I walked over to the drawer once more and picked up the box and took it with me to the bathroom. I started up the shower and got undressed.

I opened the box and the metal seemed to glow. I picked it up and brought it with me to the shower and laid it on the edge where the shampoo was.

I took the blade in my hands and instantly started shaking. I needed to release the pain. The stress. The hopelessness.
