"Katelyn, stop! You're being so immature!" Emma snapped to the short 12 year old.
"No Emma you don't understand! This is MY journal! MINE! You can't read it!" Katie hugs the small leather bound book to her chest tightly.
"Lou, get the book!" Emma exclaimed. Lou reached around Katie's body and grabbed the book right from her thin arms.
"No, it's mine! Give it back!" Katie yells, tears stinging her soft brown eyes.
Lou opened the book. Emma, Xander, Zuri, Jorge, Griff, Ravi, and Tiffany gathered around.
"Entry number one," Lou read.
Katie began to cry harder. She rubbed her eyes and sniffled. "Give it back," she whispered, her thin, bony shoulders rising and falling with each noisy breath. "It's mine."
