Mingyu spent the rest of his afternoon with Wonwoo, he told him of many things, his childhood, how he got his 'job' at the castle and many other things. He felt like he could tell the boy whatever was on his mind, Wonwoo made him feel like any other person again. "That's all there is to know about me. Now, tell me more about yourself?" He asked.
"Well, my Mother passed away when I was little. A few years after my father remarried to Lady Boo Seungkwanna who had two daughter around my age but things didn't go well so he left a year ago." Wonwoo explained. "I do miss them from time to them but I think that they would want me to move on with my life, and so I did. The memories of my golden childhood makes up for every horrible thing that's thrown at me."
Mingyu felt more connected with Wonwoo after hearing his story, he had spent the majority of his life as an Orphan on the streets before Queen Jeonghan found him one day begging for food and shelter.
"I'm sorry that you lost your parents." Mingyu empathized. He held the other boy's hand, giving him a bit of comfort. "Thanks.." Wonwoo replied, a smile crept onto his face. "You should smile more." He said, "I think you look better with a smile on than your poker face," Mingyu chuckled.
Wonwoo's face immediately flushed a bright pink from the younger's comment. Never in his life had someone made him feel this way since the passing of his Mother. He felt as if his heart was thawed from the icy cold winter and it was the beginning of a newly found spring day.
"Umm..Gyu, thank you for saying that. Nobody has complimented me in a long time and it made me really happy when you said that.." He stuttered, trying his hardest not to sound awkward. "I'm glad I made you feel happy then." Replied Mingyu.
Time past and the sun was starting to set, Wonwoo knew that his Step Mother would be enraged if he didn't go home to start preparing dinner. He sighed, wishing he could spend more time with his newly found friend who he may have started to develope feelings for. He felt helpless knowing that he may never be loved by the other.
"I have to go, my step family needs me to cook dinner. Gyu, thank you for today. I enjoyed it very much, I hope we can meet again sometime in the near future," said Wonwoo, thanking Mingyu for the wonderful afternoon he had. "Then why not meet again sooner, at the palace this time. The prince is having a ball for his coming of age ceremony and I want to invite you to it." Mingyu chirped.
"Could I really? Could I really go to to the ball?" Questioned the boy. "Yes, yes you can! The Prince said it himself, 'Everybody is invited no matter the status'," Replied Mingyu. Clasping the nameless boy's hands inside his.
Wonwoo was bewildered, the fact that he made a new friend today and being invited to the Prince's Birthday party made him think that it was all a dream. However it wasn't, it was reality. For the longest time in his life, the flowers had finally bloomed for him.
