brinley took a huff of her cigarette before ashing it out in the ashtray. she looked out into the city, and she had to admit, los angeles was addicting and toxic. she told herself she would never move out to the city but one visit changed everything.
she headed back inside into the bedroom and found herself looking around for her clothes from the night before. she ran her hand through her long brunette hair as she continued pacing around the room.
"since when did you smoke cigarettes?" she heard a familiar voice.
brinley successfully found her jeans under the bed along with her top. she casually slid into them over her calvin kleins, not really caring someone else was in the room.
"brin, i asked you a question."
she let out a deep sigh as she turned around and stared at the half naked boy who was sporting nothing but basketball shorts over his boxers. her lips curved into a smile before it quickly disappeared.
"does it really matter kyle?" she laughed.
"are you heading out already?" he asked, running his hand through his hair to keep it from falling in his face.
"why would i stay around?" she rolled her eyes.
kyle just shrug his shoulders as he watched brinley pull her hair into a ponytail effortlessly. she grabbed her phone and bag and brushed pass by him out the bedroom.
"brinley," he called after her.
"what kyle?" she replied in annoyance as she reached the bottom of the stairs.
"let's grab lunch or something next time. it was nice seeing you." he followed her.
he dug his hands into his pocket out of nervousness. a habit he had formed in his adolescence. he noticed brinley's eyes light up as she smiled at him. something she did when she was excited about something.
"don't you have your new la friends or something you could grab lunch with, dysn?"
that stung a little. that gleam in her eye along with that smile was not the same from what he remembered. he could tell there was hurt behind it. brinley was definitely not the same girl he remembered, but then again four years can change someone.
"tell devyn and morgan i said hi." brinley said slipping on her shoes before heading out the house.
brinley dug through her bag for her sunglasses. she put them on and headed to her car that was parked across the street. she sat in there for awhile trying to collect her thoughts as well as the events from the night before.
out of the places, she did not expect to run into him at a friend's party. hell she didn't expect him to pretty much know everyone. she was successful at avoiding him the past two years since she had moved to la. and last night, all the anger she had built up had disappeared. one thing brinley did know was that kyle de loera was not going to break her heart again, nor was his "new" identity here in la going to change their history.
