as the pair walked towards the door of the large venue they both thought thoughts only they could hear.
"he is the reason i'm so scared to fall in love again."
"she is so beautiful, dear god don't let her hurt me."
unaware of each others troubles they made their way into the building.
"layla, darling, i'm so glad you can make it." her stick sized mom with her frequently botoxed face held as much fake emotion as her fake body.
"hello mother." she muttered with a fake smile as the older woman embraced her.
she started to converse with luke as i stepped away to get a drink.
"funny how i'll be your daddy after all that time of you calling me daddy." the voice she's grown to hate whispered in her ear
"i hate you." she snarled
"looks like i get to be somebodies father after all." he smirked knowing exactly where to hit me.
"that's not fair, and you know it." she whispered, tears pricking her eyes.
"what's not fair?" luke smiled wrapping his hands around her waist.
"ahhh nothing, you must be my favorite step daughters man." he smiled as if he never broke her heart.
"you could say that." he smiled.
"enjoy the wedding you love birds!" he smiled walking away.
"prick." layla muttered under her breath.
"karma is a bitch." luke smirked interlacing their arms as they walked to their seats.
the exchanging of vows was excruciating as she watched her once lover and once mother become bound.
"i was going to keep our baby." she whispered causing luke to frown.
"you were 17, no one blames you."
"tyler's dad was the mayor, he didn't want news getting out that his son knocked up some girl." tears pricked her eyes.
"he paid you off?"
"more like threatened and paid for the abortion." she muttered.
"i'm sorry."
luke embraced the frail girl, not phased by anything other than her.
"who was she before they hurt her?"
the thought pricked his mind with such force all the others bled out.he was determined to know, determined to learn.
