Good morning! Sorry for the slight delay, getting a little writer's block.

And if any of you read my 'Dolan Twin Drabbles' I'm not abandoning it, I've just been trying to invest extra think-time into this new fic, as this sort fic needs plot, and for my one-shots, I literally just think of one thing, slap the keyboard a couple times, and post it lmao

I will say that I am working on one right now, bc Ethan Tweeted one thing and I was like "!!!! I gotta do a one-shot about that!"

Anyway, thank you for reading and I hope you all like this chapter! <3

Grayson checked his phone and he saw that it was nearly noon the next day. He was downstairs on the couch, watching the news, making sure that there hadn't been any reports of any humans at the club he had been at last night.

His phone lit up, indicating that he had a text, and he saw that it was from Alex, telling him that they had officially lost William's trail. Grayson gritted his teeth and resisted the urge to chuck his phone; the bastard had slipped through their fingers when Grayson had taken Ethan away from the club.

Nate had called him that same night, telling him that William had been tailing his car before retreating when he had been followed by Alex and another from Grayson's coven.

During that night, Grayson detected a few vampires of his own patrolling the boarders of the house when they got word that their Coven leader and his potential mate were being harassed by another vampire who was not in their clan.

But now, the new day had begun, there hadn't been any disturbances, and Grayson was just annoyed that William had sidestepped them.

He listened closely, but all he could hear was Ethan's gentle breathing from upstairs. He had tuned out the beating of his own heart, which still took him a while to adjust to, as he would forget and nearly jump out of his own skin when his heart thudded against his chest.

Grayson might as well make some tea, as Ethan was going to feel miserable from the aftereffects of the drugs that had taken control of him. He stood in front of the stove, mindlessly staring at the kettle until he heard the front door being opened and he knew it was Alex and Nate.

He greeted them from the threshold of the kitchen that lead into the living room, where his friends stood at the front door, toeing off their muddy shoes on the floormat. He saw that they looked upset and he reassured them that they had done their best and thanked them for their hard work.

"But he was right there," Nate was almost pinching his index finger and thumb together.

"He jumped in the river, we lost sight and scent of him," Alex grumbled, jamming his hands into his pants pockets. He glanced up towards the ceiling when he heard Ethan roll over in bed, "How's Ethan doing?"

"Still sleeping," Grayson sighed.

"The...beating heart is new," Nate shyly stated, standing closer to the door if Grayson was going to growl at him to leave.

Grayson's shoulders slumped, "Yea, guess it means that he's mine and I'm his," he told them. It was an odd concept, as it seemed that Ethan wanted nothing to do with him the majority of the time, but Grayson wouldn't let it bother him, as now he felt protective of his human, who was so very different from any other he's met, and he certainly did not want another vampire to try to take him away.

What they had been told from their High Counsel was that if a vampire found their mate, whether they're human or not, the vampire's heart would start, symbolizing that they found a reason to have their heart beat once again.
