Sometimes things don't go as well as you had hoped and the unthinkable happens, suddenly forcing you to look at reality. Everything can slip from between your fingers in no time at all and shatter to the ground like fragile glass.

"Viktor!"

The last thing I remember, is Yuri calling out to me as I started to walk across the street and then everything went black.

"When is he going to wake up?" "Well, we can't really say, considering how severe his injuries are. There is also the possibility that he may have severe amnesia when he wakes up." "You're telling me that he might not even know who I am?" "Yes. He's suffering from a very bad concussion and we're lucky that the impact to his skull didn't crack it. I don't think you understand the severity of his wounds. He has two fractured ribs on the left side of his body and on the right side of his body, they're completely shattered. He's going to be in the hospital for at least 6 weeks or more."

Yuri bit the bottom of his lip and clenched his hands into fists at his sides.

"It's surprising that he survived such an impact to begin with and just came out with those injuries. It could have ended up being far worse. I recommend going back home and getting some rest. He may be in the coma for a fair amount of time."

One week later...

Turning his head to the side, the older male's eyelids fluttered and then opened slowly.

Reaching up, he winced and his arm fell back onto the bed. His entire body was in pain and it was almost unbearable.

What happened to him?

He couldn't remember anything and it was as if all that remained of his brain was an endless black screen.

"You're awake!"

Feeling startled by the sudden voice, he glanced to the side and seen someone sitting by his bed.

He watched as the person reached out and hit the button that was laying next to him.

"How are you feeling?"

The other male spoke again and Viktor was unsure how he should answer. Instead he decided to ignore the question and tried lifting his arm again, forcing it to listen to him this time.

He touched something on his face and came to the realization that he was in the hospital. He was wearing an oxygen mask and as he felt further, he could feel bandages around his head.

"You were in a really bad accident. Don't you remember?"

Accident?

Shaking his head, Viktor tried to think back to what the other had said, but he couldn't remember a thing. His memory was foggy and dark.

A little while later...

"So, you don't remember why you are here?" The nurse frowned and glanced over at the patient. "Do you remember your name?"

"Viktor Nikiforov."

"How about your age and occupation?"

"I'm 28 and currently a figure skater."

"Alright...So far, so good. How about this gentleman here? Do you know who he is?"

"No. Should I?"

As soon as Viktor spoke, he seen the raven haired male's features crumble and he watched as he left the room. He blinked in confusion and looked at the nurse. "Who is he?"

"He's Yuri, your husband." She sighed and glanced in the direction that the other male had went.

"My husband?" He blinked a few more times and then let his gaze drop. Oddly enough, it dropped to his right hand and he seen the ring that sat on his finger. It was gold and had a beautiful shine to it. So, he was married? Surely he should be able to remember such an important thing, but for some reason, he couldn't.

"We did warn you that this might happen, since he took such a hard hit to his head. It's only temporary, though. His memory will come back in time."

"How long will that take?"

"It all depends on him and how often you can trigger memories. I don't recommend to over do it though, because he may have undergone trauma from the accident and triggering certain memories may also trigger the accident ones as well."

The rest of the doctor's words were hazy and Yuri didn't really hear them. He watched as he headed back to Viktor's room and decided to go outside for some fresh air. They would probably be in there for a while, since they had to run tests, now that he was awake.

Once he got outside, Yuri took his cellphone out from his pocket and hesitated on dialing Minako's number. He knew that he had to let her know that Viktor had woken up, but he just couldn't hit the call button.

Leaning against one of the pillars that sat outside the entrance, the younger male let out a rather loud sigh and felt a pain erupt up into his heart. "He doesn't remember me..."

This fanfiction gave birth, at seeing a certain comic, where Viktor doesn't remember Yuri.
