"Baby girl... it's time to wake up" I said to her loud enough for her to hear me. "Awe why Sade?" Zayda said to me giving off a cute yawn with her two puffs in her head. "If you get ready for school I will have your strawberry pancakes made for you" I said and she jumped from beneath her covers. "Okay Sade" she said running down the hall into the restroom.

I checked the rest of the house to see if mama made it back but she didn't. I went into the kitchen and seen one of her crack pipes on the table and I put it in the top cabinet to hide it from Zayda. I began to make her pancakes while she was in the restroom brushing her teeth. All of a sudden the lights clicked off in the house. Zayda began to scream "Sade the lights are off and they won't come back on". "Awe man, I know not" I whispered to myself. I opened the bathroom door for Zayda because she was afraid of the dark I lit a candle. I went to my room to look for the stash I kept in the shoe box in my closet for the light bill. The stash was still there thank goodness. "I will pay it after work" I thought to myself.

Zayda went into the kitchen and dug into her pancakes right away. "Where is mommy?" she asked me. "Mommy is at work" I told her lying knowing that mama is actually out on the streets. I took Zayda's backpack and we walked out of the house to her bus stop. I seen her bus coming from around the corner and I kissed Zayda's forehead. "I love you big head" I told her. "I love you too fat head" she said laughing walking on the bus.

After she got on her bus I started walking to work which was a half a mile away. I kind of ran late because of her bus running late. "Late again" said Gabe one of my coworkers. Gabe thinks he is the manager or something at our job. I stuck the bird at him and clocked in. I was happy today because I was getting paid.

My shift was finally over and I clocked out and went into the office. My manager handed me my check and boy was I so happy. I looked down at my check and seen $100. "A hundred dollars" I said frowning. "Yes it is, you always run late every morning" said my manager getting on my nerves. "Mr. Owens I have to make sure my sister gets to school plus I been working doubles; where is my money from that" I asked him. "You run late when you work your night shifts too" he said to me making me feel bad. "I have to find a babysitter for my sister, my mom work too" I said disappointingly. "Always excuses Sade. Get out of my office before I fire you" he said pointing towards the door. I walked out of the office and I seen Gabe snickering. Boy! And did I want to punch him in his face.
