"For Christ sake, get your fucking hands off me!" I screamed, jerking my knee up and meeting contact with James's stomach. He let out a Yelp in pain and started punching my cheek, already feeling the swelling rise. I cried out for help, but I felt like no one was listening.
"Sweetheart, stop," he yelled, "wake up! Please, wake up!"I slowly opened my eyes and felt instant pain shooting through my head. I groaned and squeezed my eyes in agony. My memory slowly came back to me, and I realized where I was.
The nurses office
There was a short old lady next to me, who was probably the voice I was hearing in my dream. I slowly sat up and rubbed my eyes. There were a lot of pictures of zebras around, so I automatically assumed this lady loved zebras. I looked to the front of the small room and checked the clock. 8:24. School started like 20 minutes ago. What the hell happened to me, I wondered with a bolt of pain shooting through my head again.
"A tall, half kiwi, half asian looking boy carried you in here. He said you had slipped on some water." She spoke, still looking at her computer screen, like she had read my mind.
That sneaky little bitch.
I didn't fall. It's coming back to me now. I closed my locker and got shoved.. or maybe someone ran into me..
I bet it was him.
"Did you get his name? I'd like to thank him for bringing me here.." I lied. I'd rather punch him right between the eyes when no one is looking. She nodded, grabbing the phone and typing something quickly in the search bar, which brought up a very Asian looking boy, maybe a senior.. or junior. He had black hair that calmly sat on his head. His smiled payed dimples resting on his cheeks.
Calum Thomas Hood. She scanned the page until his schedule appeared, and he dialed the number for Mr. Mint's room.
"Hello, Dave. Can I please have Calum up in the nurses office?" she said, putting on her best fake smile. A voice spoke on the other end, and I assumed he had said yes, when she exclaimed "Great! Thank you so much!" and she put the phone down.
After a minute, A tall, dark haired boy appeared at the doorway, leaning on its frame. He had a smirk laying on his lips, and he sorta looked Asian.
He pushed himself up from the frame and greeted the nurse with a big ass smile. He looked over to me and extended his arm to shake my hand.
I grinned, but didn't lean to shake his hand. I hauled my ass off of the bed and thanked the nurse for taking care of me. She nodded and turned to Carlos, or whatever his name is. "Honey, would you mind walking her back to class, after giving her a tour of the school?"
Shit.
Calum accepted kindly and picked up my bag to throw it over his shoulder. "Lets go, girls-name-i-don't-know."
I groaned and told him my name, but he only nodded. When we stepped out of the office, and I didn't mean to do this, I slapped him.
Hard.
"Why the fuck did you lie in there! And second, why the hell did you run into me in the first place?!"
He gasped and grabbed his cheek. But he didn't look angry.. he looked kinda cute.
But then that sweet baby face twisted his face into a smirk, and I felt that urge to knock him out like he did to me.
"Well, princess, I for one, will not let a little schoolgirl get me suspended on my first day of junior year. And two, I had to piss, so I was running my ass off to get to the bathroom, and you were in my blind spot, and before I could stop, you were on the ground unconscious. You're lucky I didn't leave you, bitch."
I gawked at his cruel words, but not exactly surprised. I rolled my eyes and took my schedule out of my bag. "Where's room 243?"
Calum grabbed my hand, and pulled me along, but I couldn't pull away. So I pick up my pace to match his.
He stopped after a minute of walking in front of a door, but before he let me go in, he pulled a crumpled piece of paper out of his pocket and unfolded it. He grabbed my schedule, and what I realized was his schedule, and compared them.
"Holy shit man, we have almost the exact same classes! We just don't have science together, but you have that with my buddy Luke, and Luke's smoking. He could probably turn me gay if I wanted him to. But I don't, and He is single as hell. We can talk about it in the classroom, since the math teacher is pretty chill."
Great.
The kiwi looking boy opened the door for me, and I walked in. Caleb was right, the teacher was just sitting on his phone and the students were calmly talking about multiple subjects, But a blonde boy with a cute ass lip ring was sitting in a seat, away from everyone else. There were every high school stereotype you can imagine. Jocks, preps, nerds, even the band geeks. But blondie wasn't in the little cliques. He was sitting there.. Writing something in a dark blue notebook. His eyes were focused on the precise writing of the pen, making him ever so dreamy.
The Asian smirked. "That's Luke. He's a weirdo. But we're best friends. Want me to hook you up? I can give you his number."
I thought for a minute. Wouldn't it be odd to just text someone without them knowing you have their number? Yeah, thanks, but no thanks.
"Actually, I'm good. I'll just go talk to him. Thanks though" I said, with a bit of genuine while thanking him. I started my way over there, while hearing Calum yell a "good luck" to my back.
I sat in the chair next to Luke and took out my mint green notebook, the one I got for a "welcome home" gift when I got out of the hospital. That's right, my douchebag ex put me in the hospital.
Ah, memories.
"Hey, do you need something?" The voice that must have been Lukes spoke without looking up from his notebook.
"Hey, I'm Kayli, nice to meet you."
I extended my hand in hopes he wouldn't blow me off.
He looked up from his notebook with a sour grin, but it soon turned into a soft smile and his eyes shimmered.
"Well hey there, hottie, I'm Luke. But you call me taken."
