Hey everyone! First time being here and uploading my new short story.  If you like Jason Myers, his books were a HUUUUUGE inspiration for me to start writing.  Also, if you're a fan of Orange is the New Black, you might also like this short story as that inspired me as well.  If you read my bio, I do not spellcheck or anything so....just suck it up and keep reading.  If it bothers you THAT much, let me know where and what part.  Hope you enjoy it! :)

                                                                                                                                                                The Ride-1

Packing was a bitch.  My older brother kept interrupting me to explain how to get to the airport when he was obviously the only one driving me there.  “Jared, you’re the only one driving me.  I’ll be fine.  The jet doesn’t leave until 1:00 and you’re planning on dropping me off at 12:30.  Just relax.”  I know I have anxiety and panic attacks from the dumbest shit, but lately it seemed like Jared was the only one having them.  It was like we switched bodies for two weeks.  “Do you have your tampons?  Your meds.  Your lighter.  Your backpack of all fucking things?!  Do you?!”  “Jared.  Yes to all of them.  Just calm down.”  My tampon issues always make me laugh because ever since last fall, he dropped me off at the airport because I was going down to Florida to visit my step dad and my tampons weren’t packed and let’s just say the airplane ride down was very interesting.  And embarrassing to say the least.  Thank god for strangers or else the back of my pants would have looked like I got murdered.  My backpack was very important to me because it was from Target and if you know anything from Target; good backpacks.  Plus, my step dad bought it for me so that obviously made it much more important.  Plus, my backpack had all these pockets and my rainbow ribbon pinned to it so ya know, I could let everyone know in the whole fucking world I was hella gay.  “Okay Jenni, it’s like 12:15, you almost ready to go?”  “Yup, just let me load the Jeep up and put on some half decent clothes. Did you call Mike to let him know I’m going to Talamancaa for the summer? Alice told him some stupid story about me and my phone so now he won’t call me until he talks to you.”  “Yeah, I gave him your number since Alice is dumbfuck who throws shit out she doesn’t like, so yeah, he knows everything.  I also gave him your skype name so in case you guys wanna skype during or whatever your ride there you can.  I’m really gonna miss you.  I don’t know what Michelle and I are gonna do without you around here.”  I was relieved to hear Jared gave my stepdad Mike my skype name because Alice my stepsister was a stupid 10 year old shit who lies to everyone and tells retarded stories to everyone, and my stepdad has to pretend he believes her or else she goes apeshit.  And Michelle is Jared’s girlfriend and she’s a real sweetheart.  She’s always around the house helping out with us and she’s practically a second mother.

My mom Ella works for this big company in New York, so she’s always traveling around the country and my stepdad Mike lives in Florida because him and Alice are buying a house down there for Jared and I to live in and our mom too.  I’m not a fan of Florida because it’s so far away from everything and I’d rather just stay here in California, but he wants the best for us and I really appreciate it so I’m agreeing for now.

I’ll be sad because after this summer, as in after I get back from Talamancaa, Jared and I are packing up everything and the house is already sold, so we kinda have to fly down to Florida.  I’m already upset about it but Ella (I hate calling her mom…I’m like 20.  It what cool kids do, right?) insisted and I hate upsetting her, so I guess I have to now.  But Ella did say something about Jared and I moving in with Michelle because her apartment is really close to downtown and Jared already has a job there and my college is right there and Ella really doesn’t want us to start from scratch.  So, that’s a plus right?  I’m at least happy about that.
