(Alexis' POV)

"Hey! What are you doing up there?" it was Alheira, my cousin.
"I'm just looking at the stars." I said. "Aren't they beautiful?"

"Hmm... Yeah." She agreed. "Well I can't wait to taste mom's salad! I'm sure it would be a good one!" she sounded so excited.
"Me too, I believe it would be on the center table tonight. It's everybody's favorite!" I smiled.
"Yeah! I hope I can be as good as her someday. I also want to become a great chef!" – Alheira
I was about to reply when...
"10! 9! 8!..."

I looked up at the sky, and before the countdown reached to 1, I saw a falling star.
I closed my eyes and tears began to run down my face.
"3! 2! 1! Happy New Year!"

"Alexis, do you already have a partner for the prom?" it was Zen, one of my classmates and a close friend.
"Actually, I don't have one yet." I whispered so that only the two of us could hear it.
"Haven't he asked you?" – Zen
"Who are you talking about?"
"Of course I'm talking about Khai."
"He.. He must be up to someone else. And besides I don't even expect him to ask me." I replied.
"You don't expect him but your heart hopes so!"
"What are you..."
"And duh! Don't you even dare to deny it from me! No! No!" Zen grinned.
I sighed. How could I have a friend like her? Tsk.
"We're only friends! Will you stop teasing me?!" I hissed. "There's nothing more between us."

"What about that thing on the bench?" Zen winked
"It's only a dream. And besides, if it's true, why didn't he talk about it after all?" I looked away.
"Hmn. Maybe he's just afraid?" Zen insisted.
"Afraid of what? Well never mind. Let's just finish our lunch."

"Alexis, do you already have a partner for the prom night?" it was Nathan, one of my classmates.
"Unfortunately, I don't have one yet." I replied. "Nobody notices an ugly duckling like me." We both laughed at the idea.

"We both know that's not true. Maybe other guys thought that Khai would ask you." He said.
"Well maybe. But he didn't." I replied
"Well, he asked Zen already. So maybe you can be my partner?" – Nathan
He... he asked Zen?... Why...
I was so hurt that I could almost cry but Nathan's still in front of me.
"Well... I guess we'll see each other at the prom then?" I managed to reply.
"Then it's a date!"
"Yeah. It's a date!" I agreed then he bid me goodbye.
So that's it huh? I guess my dreams aren't meant to be...

Prom Night

When I arrived at the hall I tried to look for Nathan.
Where could Nathan be?

"Hey beautiful lady, are you alone?"

That voice would never be erased on my mind. I would never mistake that for someone else...
"I... I was looking for my partner, Nathan." I replied.
"He's with Zen. He's her partner." He said. "I was the one who asked Zen beacause Nathan's a bit shy." <smiles>
"But he asked me to be his partner." I almost whispered.
"He did it for me my sweet Alexis." Khai looked straight into my eyes, I felt weak. "Come on, let's dance!"

He led me to the dance floor.
While dancing with a sweet melody, I can feel that he's staring at me. I was about to say something when he suddenly spoke.
"You're so beautiful my sweet Alexis..."

"Will you stop calling me like that Khai." I told him. I was already blushing.
"Why? Don't you like it?" he asked as he caressed my face. I felt weak with the sensation again. I didn't know what to say.
"I've been waiting for so long Alexis... and I believe this is the right time to tell you this."

My heartbeat raced. Suddenly, I felt like time stopped for the two of us.
"God has given me a chance to be with you and I don't want to waste it."

He stopped as if trying to weigh how I feel.
"Don't you even dare faint on me again, this would be the second time that I would tell you this. So please..." he looked straight into my eyes.
"I Love You my sweet Alexis! Will you give me a chance?"

I was speechless for a moment. I was overwhelmed with happiness so I just hugged him tightly as tears flowed down my cheeks.
"Khai, I love you too!"

He hugged me back tightly. I was so happy.
That night, my heart was filled with so much love and happiness. I never thought that this chance would come.
I, Alexis Alexis Madison, fell in love with Justin Khai Guiller, who loves me too.

It was my dream ever since I met him, and even if wishing stars weren't true, I would still be thankful for that one New Year's eve because my wish came true...

(Third Person's POV)
"Wow! So that's how my mom and dad ended up together? That's fascinating Grampy!"

My great-grandson was really thrilled to learn about his parent's lovestory.
"Yes, my child. That's how their love came true." I said as I rubbed his head.
"You're fascinating too Grampy." The little boy's eyes were really wide and filled with awe. Can you show me more? What about grandma and grandpa? And the others too?"

"Not all love stories ended happily just like with my sister..." I said sadly.
"Grammy? So grammy didn't have a happy lovestory?" the little boy asked.
"Yes... If only I knew better..."

"Isn't there anything you can do for her Grampy?"

"Well you see..."

Suddenly, Alexis came in.
"Oh! There you are my baby! So how's your chat with Grampy?" Alexis asked.
"Grampy's so great and wonderful. He shared many stories with me too."

Alexis smiled then she looked at me. "We should go inside now Gramps. It's getting cold out here."

"Okay."

The little boy went between me and Alexis. He reached out to hold my hand and then he smiled at me, I smiled back.
We were about to go inside the house when I realized something...
So he's like me huh... Then maybe there's really something that can be done to help my sister...
