Annabeth's POV

Lacey Charlotte Jackson....

I repeat the name over and over again in my mind and grow more excited and curious about our new baby girl every time. What will she be like? Will she still love us even though we aren't her biological parents? What's her personality? Does she have any medical problems?

Will Percy and I be good parents?
Will I be a good mom?

The last question is bothering me the most because if a parent screws up, it most of the time translates to the child and I would never want my baby to live her life affected by some huge mistake I made, like choosing one brand of diapers over the other? The choices are so overwhelming, but Percy and I have a little bit of time before we can take Lacey home anyway.

Our top priority is changing my office room into a nursery, which we would've had to do anyways in 7 months. The small room that housed our formal dining table- which we never use, we have a breakfast nook with a good size breakfast table that is our normal eating area- will now be the study. We're going to sell the dining set to pay for some costs of baby furniture we didn't anticipate so soon.

And we also decided to plan a service for Zoë, in four days on the 17th. Percy and I along with my mother are going to read our goodbyes to Zoë too.

I was discharged from the infirmary and Percy and I walked home in the warm summer air.

Holding hands, Percy and I walked through camp and into the city, and along the way campers stopped whatever they were doing and somberly gave their condolences on our loss, some even tearing up and a few even full out started crying. Percy and I hugged and thanked everyone. None of it was awkward, it actually made me aware of how much I was holding back at letting my emotions spill. See, Percy would always stay the strongest in the relationship but this news got to him first. It also hit him hardest first. My mind flashed back to at night when we would lie in bed and he would put both his hands on my stomach and whisper into my shirt sayings like "daddy loves you" and "can't wait to meet you baby" and then whisper to me that he would always, no matter what protect me and the baby and that nothing would ever do anything or say anything otherwise.

When we got home, no one said a word. I sat on the couch and thought about how this was the first time the baby wasn't physically "here" in what would be it's first home.

Percy came over to me and took my hands, then slid in for a hug when I broke. Tears streamed out and I sobbed uncontrollably. Percy just rocked me, well, like a baby, which just made me sob even more.

"The worst thing of all is that I'll never hear her voice, or her eye color or her hair color or anything! I'll never get to hear her say 'I love you mommy!' I won't get her homemade Mother's Day card or handprint or see her smile! Percy, whoever that guy was who pushed me took the most important thing he could from us, she was ours Percy!! Not his to take!" I said through ugly sobs.

"I am going to find that guy and kill him, I swear, Annabeth."

Of all the things Percy Jackson was famous for, he was determined.

We stayed like that for a while before Percy suddenly gasped.

"What? What's wrong?!?" I started getting anxious and worried.

"It's just that, oh crap, it's the 14th!!" He exclaimed.

"Yeah, so?" I said, calming down from the heart attack Percy almost gave me.

"Uh, the 14th? Of July? Doesn't ring a bell to you? (I shook my head) How about it being two days after your 18th birthday!!!" He said. "We never got to celebrate because of the...well....fight."

Duh.

I frigging forgot my own birthday. Wow. That is sad.

"Damn, I must be getting too old to remember!" I just laughed it off because of Percy's alarmed expression, as if I would flip out on not having a party on my birthday.

"Really, Perc, it's okay, we'll wait for a better time to celebrate-" I was cut off by a knock on our front door.

I wiped away the tears, the redness calming down to a dull throb.

Percy and I shrugged, obviously not expecting anyone. We walked to the door cautiously, and looked through the peephole.

"Percy, it's those three kids that were fighting the monster, I'm glad they made it alright." I said quietly so they couldn't hear on the other side of the door.

I opened the door to the three kids who were smiling politely until the girl spoke.

"Um, hi, I don't know if you remember us at all but we never got to say thank you for helping us a couple nights ago, we were the first ones to start fighting back against that stupid monster and we started getting tired. And we also wanted to say we're so sorry-" their eyes rested on my stomach, which should've made me feel uncomfortable, but I actually am impressed by how mature these kids are being. "Oh, Styx, we forgot to introduce ourselves, I'm Krysta, daughter of Zeus. I've been here at camp my whole life, so I've naturally been the leader of our group since we met."

As soon as she finished, the tallest boy with light brown hair said, "Yeah, self proclaimed leader. I'm Finn, son of Athena. Oh, hey, aren't you a daughter of Athena? That means I'm your half-brother! This is my 5th year of camp and I stay year round. Krysta says she's the leader, but I've got both the brains and the beauty."

The third kid, the dark haired, tan skinned boy began his introduction. "You know, Finn, I'm shocked you're not a son of Aphrodite. (Finn sticks his tongue out at him) I'm Rian. I'm a son of Apollo and this is also my 5th year and for the past 2 years I've stayed year round. I'm the mature one of the group obviously."

"Somebody reeks of sarcasm today. Didn't I see you running around camp with a bunch of Hermes campers putting stink bombs in the Demeter cabins' compost pile, Arianis?"

"You know I hate that name, Krystalynn!"

"Okay! Okay, um, let's not kill each other." Percy speaks up while Rian and Krysta shoot daggers at each other while Finn has a laughing fit.

I said I was impressed by how mature these kids were being?

"Oh, we also call ourselves the Big Three, just to tease the actual Big Three, which surprisingly, Krysta came up with when her dad is one of them." Finn says.

We had invited them to come inside and talked for a while. I offered for them to stay for dinner and they gladly accepted, and Percy buzzed their head cabin people to let them now where'd they be for the evening.

After dinner, we played a couple board games and I actually caught myself smiling and laughing.

I'm gonna be okay.

well that was intense.

Heads up, you may want to pay attention to the Big Three, they are very important! *hint* *hint*

•I used the most popular suggestion for baby names (Krystal) and named the girl in the Big Three Krysta/Krystalynn.

•One of the boys I named Finn because I am a HUGE Gleek (Glee fan) and because Zoë the baby died on July 13 (which I didn't do intentionally) I wanted to name him Finn to honor Finn Hudson/ Cory Monteith (HOW MANY OF MY READERS ARE GLEEKS?? I WANNA KNOW!)

•And lastly Rian/Arianis I found off a list of Greek boy names and I really liked it (I narrowed it down to Ander, Ariano and Arianis) but I gave him a common nickname of Rian which the character prefers.
