Dinah received a text around 9am:
[Ally]: Meet me here in about 20 minutes, without Lauren it's important.
Dinah hadn't known but Ally had a little talk with Normani that morning.
(Flashback)
"Mani were you with someone last night?" Ally asked Normani as she sat at the foot of her bed. "Yesssss." Normani said as she slowly began to awaken. "And who was this someone? Hopefully not Kehlani." Ally regretted bringing her up almost instantly. Surprisingly, Normani didn't pay it any mind, "I met Dinah." "Lauren's Dinah?" Ally asked her in disbelief. "Yeah her." Normani answered, holding her pillow across her torso. "I thought you two didn't like each other." Ally stated intensely. "I don't wanna talk about that Al." Normani replied dismissively. "I think you owe it to me to tell me if you like her or not." Ally meddled. "Well if I chose to figure out if I do, I will let you know." Normani smiled faintly, she was lying. "Am I being too pushy? Should I butt-out?" Ally asked confusedly. "I wouldn't put it that way, I just know you think it's time for me to figure things out on my own...so I'm trying." Normani answered maturely. "Awww Mani okay okay. You just come to me whenever you wanna talk okay? I am so proud of you." Ally cheered. She left the room and went downstairs and texted Dinah right away.Dinah agreed to meet with Ally. She didn't have to tell Lauren because she was still in a deep sleep. Dinah took the keys and locked the door quietly. She left and headed to Ally and Normani's house.
Once she got there she had texted Ally that she was outside.
"Mani I'm just gonna run out really quick I won't be long okay?" Ally shouted as she walked toward the door. "Sure Ally. Okaaaay." Normani returned.
When Ally left the house she ran to Dinah's car and told her to drive around the corner and she did.
"So what's this all about?" Dinah asked as she rested her upper body on the steering wheel while looking at Ally. "I need to know what's going on with you and Mani." Ally stated firmly. "Really? I want to know what's going on with her." Dinah leaned up and said. "What do you mean?" Ally looked at her. "We hung out for a really long time yesterday and yet I feel like I haven't learned anything more about her than I knew the day I met her. You know what I mean? It's like she's purposely shutting me out." Dinah looked ashamed. Ally comforted her, "Don't feel like anything is your fault. Normani doesn't adjust to people quick. She wasn't always that way. She's been hurt and now she's got a wall up." "What are you saying to me? I shouldn't try to be with her?" Dinah asked with small tears in her eyes." "That's just not what she needs right now Dinah. She needs a friend and if you cared enough, that's what you'd try to be." Ally was firm once again. "I care, even if the both of you think I don't, I care." Dinah expressed as she wiped her eyes. "Don't tell me, show her." Ally had stopped talking after that. From that point, besides taking Ally home, Dinah knew what she had to do.
Dinah went home and prepared herself for the rest of the day. She'd planned to take Normani to the fair, she didn't care if Ally and Lauren came boo-ed up.
Dinah called Normani and she waited until the last second to pick up.
"Hi." Dinah said in her beautiful deep voice. It melted Normani, "Hi." she responded reservedly. "Are you busy? Can you come out today?" Dinah continued. "I can, I'm not, what did you have planned?" Normani asked, twiddling her thumbs. "The fair, that is if you wanted to go. I've never been so..." Dinah was always nervous during phone calls, especially with girls. "Sure I'll go. Should I invite Ally? Normani responded. "I don't mind, Lauren probably won't either." Dinah laughed and so did Normani. The two of them hung up after saying "OK." as a term for confirmation and everyone got ready.
Around 7 o'clock Lauren drove to Ally and Normani's house and Dinah was a little at odds with it. "Why would you get to drive it this was my idea?" Dinah started. "Día, you sound estupido, shut up!" Lauren dismissed. "Ughhhh you just wanna flex for Ally." Dinah continued. "I have the right to, it is my car." Lauren pulled rank. "It's just as much mine as it is yours don't even do that." Dinah plummeted back in her seat, which was in the back row. "You just got your license and you've been scared to drive up until yesterday, don't play yourself." Lauren smirked as she looked at her in her mirror. "Okay okay whatever! I still don't see why I have to sit in the back instead of the passenger's seat with you." Dinah rolled her eyes. "You're staying where you're at, to and from because I'm keeping an eye on you." Lauren beeped for Ally and Normani because they were taking an exceptionally long time. They came outside at the conclusion of the horn and got in the car. Dinah seemed happy to see Normani in her orange adidas tracksuit. Lauren loved the view of Ally's legs in her yellow sundress. Dinah wore denim shorts with a denim jacket and a white tank. Lauren wore black high-waisted shorts and a navy crop top. Nobody was color coordinated with each other obviously. Lauren wore her sexy black shades and drove in the direction of the fair, Ally was mesmerized watching her chew her gum.
"Have you ever been to one of these before?" Dinah asked. "Yeah, a couple times, when I was really young." Normani answered sweetly. Ally smiled in her seat, gushing at the fact Normani didn't avoid the question. "Did you like it?" Dinah asked anxiously. "Can't remember, hopefully I do today." Normani smiled.
Dinah's POV
She smiled at me, that's so rare for her. She is so beautiful and her smile is the most glorious sight I'd ever seen. I want to make sure today will go as perfect as ever and as smoothly as possible she deserves it.
