A big blubbering baby.

Xander's POV

  I drove down the road towards Texas while James and Nike talked softly in the back seat. We needed to avoid Highways so if we were being tracked it would be harder to find us making the origonal 4 hour trip turn into a 6 hour long journey. It’s been 3 hours since we left Katerina’s house in Kansas City where we lived and she and I havn’t talked yet.

  “Kat?” I asked my voice cracking from trying not to break down so many times.

  “Ya?” She asked surprised.

  “Where are we?” I asked. She grabbed a map out of the glove box reading it.

  “About 20 minutes away from Durant.” She replied.

  “Okay, if memory surves there should be a Compfort Inn here somewhere, you wanna stop there for the night?” I asked. I was completly drained.

  “Okay.” She answered quitely. I rested my hand on her leg.

  ‘You ok baby?’ I asked her through our mind link.

  ‘Yeah. I should be asking you the same thing after... well after what happened.’ She sighed.

  ‘I’m About as ok as expected.’ I sqeezed her knee.

  ‘I’m so sorry this is all my fault.’ She said a tear falling down her cheek. God Katerina stop it you probably look like a baby blubering like that. She thought.

  ‘It is not your fault Kat. It’s ok I feel like blubering like a baby too.’ I chuckled wiping her cheek with my thumb.

  ‘But if I would have never came here everything would have been fine!’ She yelled in my head squirming in her seat.

  ‘Baby its not your fault. You could never do anything wrong.’ I said seeing the compfort Inn I was talking about and pulled in.

  “Nike you and James stay here while Kat and I get a room.” I smiled and Nike nodded but James looked like he was in his own little world looking out the window. I looked out beside the car seeing a girl about 15 standing with an older man and woman. Her head snapped around to look at the car and her eyes locked with James. She smiled and offered a small wave.She had her red hair in a side braid and her pericing green eyes complemented the spray of freckles on her cheeks and nose. James got out of the car along with Kat and I.

  “Hi.” The mystery girl said quietly.

  “Hi.” James breathed.

  “Katie? Oh, who’s this?” The older man said.

  “Dad uh, this is I guess my uh.... My mate.” She said looking down and blushing.

  “What’s your name boy?” Katie’s dad asked looking him up and down then nodding slightly.

  “James sir.” James said sticking his hand out. The dad shook his hand.

  “So James what brings you here?” He asked and James looked at me and I stepped forward.

  “We are moving down to Dallas and thought we’d stop here for a night.” I smiled at him and held out my hand, he shook it.

  “Dallas huh? Thats werid we live there as well just coming back from a trip to Atoka.” He smiled.

  “Wonderful, I’m Xander by the way, this is my girlfriend Katerina and my baby sister Nike.” I said pointing to Katerina who got Nike out of the car and is now holding her.

  “Henry. How old are you boy?” He asked.

  “18 sir.” I replied smileing.

  “And how old are you?” He asked looking at James.

  “15.” He said.

  “Same age as Katie. Well we should be getting to our room.” He said and picked up their luggage.

  “We’re in room 78.” Katie smiled at James and he nodded watching her walk away.

  “You are may see her once tonight, get her address and that is it. You do not tell her the reason we moved and if she askes just say we needed a change of pace do you understand?” I asked, more like commanded and James nodded quickly. “Good now go get your bags out of the car.” I smied. I walked over to the car and opened the door grabbing mine and Kats phones and our bags. “Nike can borrow a shirt from me tomorrow and when we get to Dallas we will buy some more clothes.” I said to Kat as all of us walked through the doors.

  “Sounds good.” She smiled. We walked up to the frount desk and checked in to room 60 which James was very happy about becasue it was on the same floor as Katie. We walked into the elevator and pressed level 3 then waited until the doors opened. Walking towards the room I pulled out the key unlocking the door to reveal a room with two beds with a window at the far corner. In front of the beds was a TV and off the to the left of the door was a bathroom.

  “Pretty cozy.” I said laying on the bed closest to the door.

  “Get off of there! You smell go take a shower.” Kat scolded.

  “Xander.” Nikes small voice asked.

  “Yes sweetheart?” I asked and sat up to see her standing in front of me.

  “Where’s mommy and daddy?” She asked and my heart broke as a tear slid down my face.

  “Hey I thought I saw a snack mechine around the corner how bout James and I go see if we can get some treats.” Katerina said shooing James out of the room then followed closing the door.

  “Come here Nike.” I said and pulled her up to sit on the edge of the bed with me. “Mommy and Daddy th... T-they left.” I choked out.

  “Left where?” She asked her small face clowded with confustion.

  “They went to be with the Wolf Goddess.” I said wiping my cheek.

  “Why did they leave us?” She asked.

  “They didn’t have a choice sweety. I know its confusing now but you’ll get it when your older. Just know that Mommy and Daddy are happy now and they will love you forever and be watching over you always.” I finished hugging her. When I pulled away she nodded her head and got up walking over to my bag unzipping it. “What are you doing?” I asked when she dug around in it.

  “When daddy told me to go find Nana I was scared so I got the bunny that use to be mommy’s. She gave it to me and told me that if I ever got scared to hug it and I wont feel scared any more. Since your scared I think you need it more than I do.” She said pushing the bunny into my lap “but no keepsies.” She gigled.

   “Thank you.” I said while tears began to fall down my face. “I love you, you know that right?” I asked her.

  “Ya.” She simply replied and gave me a hug. I hope this is all over soon and we get to lead a some what normal life. Soon. It will be over soon. Oh how wrong I was.
