I heard beeping. That's all I heard aside from the quiet. The beeping was rhythmic, one after another, all at the same pace though. Where even was I? I started to move, feeling pain at the back of my head, and inside. It was the worst I've ever felt. The beeping quickened, making me realize it must have been a machine hooked up to me.
I tried to pry my eyes open. The pain in my head caused tears in my eyes, and I felt one trickle down my cheek. Eventually after trying to force them open, I had victory. Slowly, I opened them more and more letting them adjust to the bright light if the room.
The first thing I noticed was a blonde haired boy, sitting in a chair close to my bed. He had one of him arms on my bed, his head resting on it. He looked peaceful sleeping. But he also had puffy eyes like he'd been crying. Who was he?
I looked for my mom, but she wasn't in the room. Next to me were machines and more machines. All of them seemed to be hooked up to me in different places. One was for my IV, another had patches in my chest.
I strained my eyes to see the clock above the door. I couldn't be sure but I thought it read one thirty. Unfortunately I couldn't tell if it was the afternoon or morning. I ended up yawning, realizing that I was actually kinda tired still. After I let my breath out, I had a sharp pain shoot all over my brain. Tears were in my eyes again.
I sniffled a few times, causing the boy at the end of my bed to wake up. He stood up quickly coming over to me, taking my hand. I ended up retreating it quickly and I thought I saw hurt in his eyes.
"Tim, how do you feel?" He asked. He had an accent of some sort. It was familiar to me though. I knew I had heard it before.
I took me a second to find the courage to say anything, "Who, who are you?" I asked him.
All the color drained from his face. Even though he was pale at first, he was now completely white. I thought he was about to pass out.
"I'm, um," he began before running out of the room. I saw tears in his eyes just before he left.
A few seconds past before a woman came in. She was African American and very pretty. She grabbed the rolly chair that was on the other side of the room, taking a seat and rolled over to me.
"Good to see you're awake Tim, do you know who I am?" She asked. He voice was very soothing.
I thought for a second, not sure who she was but I guessed, "My doctor?"
She smiled and nodded, "Good good. How do you feel?"
"My head hurts really bad. What happened to me?" I spat it out fast and she adjusted something that was attached to my IV.
"In a few seconds you should feel relief," she said, "A blood vessel in your brain popped. We didn't know what was wrong, so we had to physically go in, which was a smart choice."
She looked over the board at the end of my bed. She took it in her hands and rolled back over to me, "Lucky your friend brought you. You could've been damaged pretty bad!"
"What friend?" I asked, confused as to who she was talking about.
She looked up from the board. I could see concern in her eyes, "The boy that was just in here. He came and got me?"
"I don't know him," I said, confused honestly.
"I'll be right back," she said.
What was going on? I was so confused. Who was that boy? I couldn't remember. And where was my mom? You'd think she'd be here. With me.
