i remember
off key screeches to overplayed songs serenaded out the window
i remember
sly looks and chain link fences, icy water and the neighbor's yells
i remember
freezing bleachers and splashes of mud, sweaty hugs after your soccer games
i remember
in puddles, each line
rippling a million different universes
until the water smooths and all that's
left is a funhouse reflection.
