you are a time bomb
(wait, stop. Rewind)
you are fourteen when we first
met and laughed like a child
(something you never got to be)
you are fifteen when you forget me the first time
smashed your head and woke up in the hospital
(i can't really blame you for that one)
you are sixteen when you grab my hand
both of us giddy with adrenaline
(you held tight until the next ride)
you are seventeen when we start falling apart
your dad, our lives, polar directions
(and i let you go)
you are eighteen and don't walk at graduation
they said you couldn't be there
(i still looked for you in the crowd)
you are nineteen and you are gone
(rewind)
you are nineteen and you are gone
(rewind)
you are nineteen and you are gone
(rewind)
you are nineteen
(i'm sorry)
and you will never be twenty
you were a time bomb
and i let you
e x p l o d e.
