River's mother's SUV pulled up against the curb of the coopers two storied house. River smiled. It was still the same as before. Pushing open the door she stepped out onto the front lawn.

"River?" A voice called. River looked towards the front of the house. A blonde girl stood in the doorway, her hair was pulled back in a high ponytail. Betty.

"Betty?" River responded her blood red lips breaking out into a wide smile. Betty ran down the lawn. They both collided at the halfway point. After a heartfelt hug Betty pulled back and held river at arm's length.

"Why didn't you tell me you were coming home?" Betty asked. River's spirits dropped a bit.

"Last minute thing." She said shrugging, brushing it off.

"Well I'm glad you're here." Betty told her honestly. River that led her and they both walked inside. River instantly caught sight of a familiar red head.

"Archie Andrews is that really you?" River said grinning. Archie turned from his spot against the wall.

"River Callaway are you really back from the dead?" Archie retorted playfully. River missed archies upbeat attitude. She was pulled into yet another hug. River was given a hugs from bettys parents as well as Archie's dad. She was guided to the dinner table where most of the food had been brought out. River took a seat between both of her friends.

"Hey river did you hear about Jason Blossom?" Archie asked while there was a silence.

"Archie-" His dad started.

"Well she's going to find out sooner or later dad." Arche cut him off. RIver raised an eyebrow.

"What happened to Jason Blossom?" River inquired with a raised eyebrow. She set her fork down and leaned forward.

"Apparently he drowned. He and Cheryl were boating and the boat flipped, they haven't found his body." Archie gossiped. River's blue eyes went wide, she was not expecting that news.

"What? Jason Blossom, No way, that's horrible!" River gasped. Betty nodded in agreement.

"Cheryl's rudeness hadn't changed either." Betty murmured from beside River. River gave her a sympathetic look.

"So, River how was London?" Archie's father asked. River shrugged.

"Fine, it was nice to see my grandparents again." She said, It wasn't a complete lie, River loved her grandparents but for the most part it was a miserable. Archie's father nodded.

"You ready to go back to school tomorrow?" Betty's mom mused. River chuckled.

"It will be nice to see some familiar faces again." River said stabbing her fork into a piece of chicken.

Later that night Betty, river, and Archie stood out on Betty's front porch talking about river's time in London.

"You guys want to go at Pop's to get a milkshake?" Archie offered. Betty nodded.

"Sure why not, I haven't been there in a couple years." River said with a smile. Archie turned to Betty.

"How much do you want to get that jughead is there?" Archie challenged. Betty smirked.

"Five dollars." She countered. "How much do you want to bet that he will recognise River if he's there?" Betty added. River watched as the two betted. She had completely forgotten about Jughead. They had be close friends. Almost closer than Betty and herself. She had never told Jughead that she was leaving. River suddenly became nervous. What if he didn't forgive her for not telling him.

"Ready to go River?" Archie asked with a eyebrow raised. River looked up and nodded. The three of them walked down the street. Luckily Pop's want far from Betty's place. The bright neon signs made River smile. She remembered coming here with Oliver when she was little. Her smile fell.

"You okay River?" Betty asked. River put her smile back on and nodded to let Betty know she was okay. A steady stream of music played softly through the speakers. Looking around she spotted a boy around her age wearing dark colors, a laptop was placed in front of him and he typed away vigorously.

"We are going to order. Why don't you see if you can find Jughead." Archie said knowing full well that Jughead was here. River gulped.

"Alright." River said quietly. She pushed herself to walk towards the boy. Almost silently she slid into the seat across from him.

"Jughead?" She asked cautiously. The boy looked up. River smiled as she took in his appearance. He had definitely grown up. Jughead looked her up and down.

"River?" He said disbelievingly. He shut his laptop.

"Hi." River responded, unsure of what to say. "You grew up." She added. He smirked, hurt was evident on his face but he hid it well.

"And you have an accent." He noticed.

"That happens when you live in London for four years." She said with a shrug. Jughead moved his laptop off the table and into his brown messenger bag.

"Can we talk outside?" He asked standing up next to the table. River bit her lip and nodded. River quickly sent a text to Betty telling her that she was with Jughead, outside. She braced herself as she walked outside with Jughead. He leaned against the wall of the restaurant.

"I'm sorry jug-" River started. Jughead but a hand up to stop her.

"Why didn't you tell me you were leaving?" He questioned. River sighed.

"It was very last minute. I know it's not me but it has been for the last few years. Coming back home was also last minute." She explained shortly. Jughead's gaze never left her face.

"After my parents got divorced my mom want to leave as soon as possible. I wasn't able to tell anyone. Betty only knew because my mom told her mom and Betty told Archie." River added.

"Archie knew about this too?" Jughead asked with a shocked expression. River pinched the bridge of her nose.

"Yes he knew. But that's not the point Jughead. I'm sorry I never told you. I will always regret that. I missed you the most in while he as in England. No one had your sarcasm or dry humor. England was never home for me. Home will be here. I missed you Jughead and I am just so sorry I never told you I was leaving." River ranted. Tears started to pool up in her blue eyes.

Jughead pushed himself off the wall and embraced his friend. He wrapped his arms around her shoulder and pulled her into a heartfelt hug. River responded by wrapping her arms around his torso. They were almost the same height, Jughead was still a couple inches taller than her.

"I forgive you River Callaway."
