-Kaye Martins-

"Nash, where - damn!" I yelled as I almost face planted in his bedroom.

"Oh sorry!" He chuckled as he walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist. His hair still wet.

I scoped the room. "I literally helped you clean two days ago! Your mom warned me it's no use." I kicked the single Vans shoe to the wall.

Nash yawned. "I'm not ready for this paper."

"Its English." I raised a brow and sat on his bed.

Nash picked out some clothing and a boxer. "Close." He said which signalled me to close my eyes while he changes.

I fell back on his bed.

"Just because you're good at it." Nash chuckled. "Does not mean the rest of us are."

I rolled my eyes. "If you'd just let me help you!!"

Nash laughed. "And let you yell at me when I don't do my homework."

"Its really not that difficult - "

"Blah blah." Nash suddenly pulled my arm up, almost dragging me off the bed in the process. "How was your date anyways?"

I blew a breath. Lastnight, I was supposed to have a date with one of Nash's friends - Luke - who didn't show up.

I shrugged. "Fine, nothing special."

Nash pouted. "There'll be better." He fluffed my hair.

I didn't know why I lied to him. Maybe because Nash was protective or maybe because I was embarrassed that a hot guy had stood me up. It hurt but I didn't want to think about it at all.

Let me fill you in. Nash and I were more than best friends, we were like partners in crime. Our families had grown up together so it was natural that we are too. I couldn't imagine not having him around.

"How was your meeting?" I pressed to change the subject. "Is that how come you didn't study?"

Of course Nash and his band of YouTubers were famous because they were well...YouTubers. Funny. Super handsome. What else?

Nash smirked. "I did study Kaye!" He had avoided my question. "Cmon, this is senior year."

I didn't press it further. Maybe the boys had been fighting - they usually had arguments. By the boys, I mean Nash and his famous social media posse.

"The meeting was fine." Nash said as he laced his kicks up. He didn't explain further and I didn't bother because he would say something eventually.

When Nash was done, we headed down to the kitchen to get Hayes. He was in a grade below us - but also close to my heart.

"You two ready?" Hayes groaned.

"Let's go kid." I slid my arm around him even though he was taller than me already.

Everything was normal. This was our routine every day but something else was among us. A unsettled feeling.

And I could see it in Nash's face. He didn't talk the whole ride to school nor did he laugh when Hayes and I cracked jokes.

I was worried.

-Nash POV-

"I have to meet the couch before the game on Friday." Kaye said as we got out of the car.

I looked at her. I guessed she sensed my weird behavior because she seemed to settle down from the cheerful mood in car. She wouldn't meet my eye.

"See you at lunch?" I asked, trying to lighten it up but there was a change. It was fault.

Kaye nodded, smiled and then jogged off to the field. Kaye hated sports until I suggested she try the cheer leading squad - they weren't all bitchy. So she actually loved it.

I also secretly wanted my best friend cheering me on during football games since I was on the team. It worked for both of us.

"That was awkward." Hayes blew a deep breath. "I mean I had to stop myself from mentioning the meeting - "

"Me too." I admitted. "Bro, I didnt know how to tell her."

"Its not that bad, I think you're blowing it way out of proportion." Hayes and I walked into the school. Kids were already arriving.

I shrugged. "Maybe cause we're so close now especially since its the final year for us."

"Is something - "

"Forget it." I said glumly. "I'll tell her soon, I'm afraid of her reaction."

Hayes and I dropped the talk. I was never down - especially around my little brother but now I couldn't help it. Kaye and I tell each other everything - and I was keeping so much from her.

As we walked down the hall, I caught eye of my good friend Luke talking to a group of girls. I frowned. I figured he would have liked Kaye - having asked me to set them up.

Yet he was flirting away. Something didn't seem right hut I didn't have time as Jack Gilinsky just rushed up to us.

"Dudes!" He grinned. "Principal wants to see us in the office now. Right now."

"Think he knows?" Hayes beamed.

My mind shifted. My spirits lifted.

"What are we waiting for!" I shoved Jack playfully.
