Having been born a girl,

Means to be bounded by Pandora's box,

To live with Pandora's box,

To keep it on lock and keys that Pandora's box.

Being born a girl,

Means to put on a mask,

Hide behind a mask,

And fear the mask.

To be born a girl,

Is having lots of expectations,

Be cute,

Be sweet,

But most of all be beautiful.

To be born a girl in this era,

Is to be perfect,

Perfect not for herself but for others,

Perfect for the men who will buy her,

Perfect for the ones who will criticize her.

To be born a girl,

Is to be a doll,

Gazed upon by watchful eyes,

Played by many hands,

A doll that watches in silence,

Only speaking words that aren't her own,

A barbie waiting for her Ken,

A doll wanting to be a bird,

Breaking free from the chains that bind her,

To be born a girl is to find the means of escape.
