It was a normal day at school when I heard it. The unmistakable blare of the government speakers. This was my third purge I'd lived through, since this year I had been 13 years old. Children under ten were excused from the games and taken into a safety area for the month, hoping to see their parents again when it was all over. During my first Purging Games, I stayed hidden in an abandoned basement living off of canned foods and one of those gallon sized water bottles. But during my second games, that's when I realized how deadly I was. I was good with knifes and other stolen weapons, and after those games were over, I got my own glock. This year when the sirens went off, I was ready. "This is not a test. This is your emergency broadcast system announcing the commencement of the annual Purging Games sanctioned by the US government. Weapons of class Four and lower have been authorized for use during the Purging Games. All other weapons are restricted. Government officials ranking ten have been granted immunity from the Purging Games and shall not be harmed. At the sound of the siren any and all crime, including murder, will be legal for the rest of the month. Police, fire and all other emergency medical services will be unable to be reached until the end of the month when the games conclude. Bless it be our new found fathers of Panem, a nation reborn, and may God be with you all." When the sirens started to roar, all hell was unleashed, and my classroom became a blood bath. I sprinted down the hall to find my Purging Partner Abby running down the hallway towards me. When we met in the middle of the hallway, I grabbed her arm, and together we ran to Ms. Hoy's room to meet up with the other girls. There was Lexi and Maria, Taylor and Nicole, and of course, me and Abby. As I was running, I ran into a brown side swept haired boy, but didn't stay any longer to further inspect his appearance. "Come on!" Abby screamed at me. When we got to Ms. Hoy's room, we were greeted by the two other teams waiting for us. "Everyone take a knife." Lexi said, holding six sharp knifes. I took one, pulled out my glock, and said, "Let's go get our bags from my locker." I lead the way, since I was the one with the gun, and when we got to my locker, We were met with camouflage drawstring bags that consisted of full water bottles and canned foods, and a set of camouflage sweatshirts, t-shirts, pants, and boots. There was also some brown and green face paint that we all sloppily smeared on our faces while putting on our cloths. "Watch out!" Taylor screamed right before she clocked the boy charging at us in the head with her baseball bat. We bolted out of the nearest doors and were headed straight for Lexi's house when a girl came barreling towards us. The girl crashed into Nicole, but before the girl could even touch her, Nicole stabbed the girl in the leg. We kept running, but when we were about to get to Lexi's house, a group of masked lunatics attacked us. One had a pair of daggers, another had a ring a with spike attached to it on each finger, and the other with a frying pan. Abby went went behind the one with the spiked rings, and I guess she found a pressure point or something, because she pinched his neck and he fell right over, as if he was commanded to do so. Abby laughed at him and said "Thanks for the knuckle upgrade idiot." She slid the rings off his hands, and put them on her own hands. She flexed her fingers and smiled "I'm going to love this." Abby said. Lexi stabbed the one with the daggers, with her own knife, but got her own arm cut in the process. She looked at the cut and said, "You're going to regret that..." and then she made a nice clean cut down her victim's forehead. She took the daggers with pride and said "These are some nice daggers! I really scored this time!" Abby only punched the frying pan boy, and he went down screaming in pain. It was obvious why it hurt so much when we saw what happened next. His face turned dark green, and his veins started bulging. There was poison in the spikes. We were all pleased with our new weapons, but nothing could prepare us for the White Shadow we saw behind us.
