I paced back and forth rubbing harshly at my chin while my stare continued to burn at my phone. The current state of mind at which I'm in you could say isn't the best, but it's now a habit that I've obtained these past few years.
I stop my pacing when my I see a dim light radiated off my phone, almost obscured by my dark bedsheets. I drag my feet at a fast pace, my legs coming in contact with the edge of my bed while I reach down my phone. My eyes scan the screen and notice its only a notification from Caleb.
Caleb: Anything yet?
I roll my eyes at the fact that he's still pestering me about her. I decide to completely ignore his question and change the subject in hopes he'll catch my hint.
Me: You getting anything for dinner?
Caleb: Pizza like always. Did she answer back or not?
Me: Alright, I'll see you at home.
I ignore is continous badgering and sit back on my bed.
Why was she ignoring me?
I sat upstraight as soon as an idea came to mind. Grabbing my phone, I jogged downstiars taking my keys and nodding to Nick as I made my way out. I started the car and drove out of the driveway and out onto my small mission.

I drummed my fingers on the wheel lightly as my patience began wearing thin with the lack of her presence. I saw two guys laughing as they walked out of her front door and to their car. I'm assuming one of them is her brother, but the other one I don't know who he is. That's when i see her. She's leaning against the door frame smirk at the immature remarks the boys are shouting to each other. Her brother hops into the drivers seat but the other runs towards her and gives her a swift kiss on her cheek and my jaw clenches.
What the fuck does he think he's doing?
I can tell by her reaction that she isn't impressed either. She waves them off, and just as she's about to walk back inside and shut the door I honk my door for her attention. Luckily she responds and she squints her eyes searching for where the noise came from. I roll down my window and hang my arm out. My smiling eyes are hidden behind my glasses while a grin forms on my face. My eyebrows start to furrow together when I notice she isn't as excited to see me as I thought she would be, instead she looks disappointed.
"What are you doing here?" She shouts calmly. I gesture her to come over to continue the conversation and she follows. "What are you doing here?" she bends down closer to my level.
"I wanted to surprise you, is that so bad?" My grin widens. She shakes her head crossing her arms and turning her head. I hold her chin turning her face back to me. "Hey." I cooed calling for her stare. I pull her chin down lightly placing a soft kiss on her lips and i can feel her muscles relax. "Get in the car, alright?" I speak between another kiss. She nods her head and walks around the car and sits in the passenger seat before we start driving.
The silence was starting to become uncomfortable so I decided to ask what was on my mind. "So who was the guy?"
"What?" her expression was as confused as I was.
"The guy that kissed you." I stated. Her eyes widened and she began chewing on her lips. "The kiss on the cheek earlier?" I asked now concerned to her perplexed appreance.
"Oh," she turrned back towards the window again for a moment before looking back to me, "He's an old friend." I hummed to her repsonse.
"That's all?" I raised any eyebrow already knowning her answer already.
"Just a little history, but that's it. It's the past and I'm not looking towards anything more with him again." She said quietly with her head down as she played with her hands. I nodded and turned on the radio for my phone. I let Logic's City of Stars play lowly in the background in an attempt to get her to lighten up a bit.
"Mind cheering up a bit? You're gonna ruin what I got planned with this unsetling position you're putting me in." I chuckled a bit to let her know I was only kidding with her, I was afraid she'd only get quieter, if that was possible. She smiled a bit clearly thinking my weak attempt to make her feel better was funny. She took my free hand in hers, making me a little uncomfortable at the sudden physical affect she was giving to me. I relaxed a bit since I wasn't normally used to a certain touch like this.
Stepping out of the car once coming to a stop, the sky had changed from it's array of pastel pinks and oranges to its usual dark void. Keeping the fluttery feeling her hand gave my own, I directed the two of us both us through a thick patch of tall grass, up a small hill in the middle of the field.
I sat down patting the empty spot beside me since she was hestitating to sit down. A sharp cool breeze passed by once she sat down instantly making her jolt towards me in shock. I chuckle to myself and pulled her closer, her arms immediately wrapping around my waist while her head snuggled into my chest. I smiled at how she melted easily with me.
Jason, you're in dangerous territory.
I shook off the pessimistic view and focused on what I had now.
You know I'm right.
"He kissed me a few days ago." her voice was barely audible.
"What? Who?" My voice was veminous and it not only surprised her but me as well.
"The guy that you saw kiss me earlier. His name is Adan." She turned her body to look at me.
'Guess you don't realize she isn't all about you, eh?
Don't you know about him?'
That's when it hit me. Guess they were right.
