Party Time...

"Uh...Dani?"I say nervously. She smiles broadly"Come on Kayla!I told you Joey might be here!"

I carefully walk out. Why am I even going to try? Because of Joey? Dani claps"Yay!You're going to go!" I nod shakily. My mind is telling me doubts while my body keeps going,like its wanting to prove Joey wrong...

We walk in and the stench of beer and other liquors fills my nostrils. The music is blasting, A bunch of people are dancing. I meekly walk through, dodging people with drinks. The couches are filled with couples making out.

Dani walks through minding people like she's done it before. Okay I can do this. Some random guy I don't think goes to our school comes up beside me,obviously drunk"Hey baby,you're looking fiiiiinnne"His breath reeking of beer. I try to ignore him"Baby,baby,oh come on don't do me like that!"I push him away and he stumbles back on a couple locked lips.

I look around and see no Dani. Dang it! I keep walking mindlessly avoiding as much of people I can. Then I see the back of his head. Joey?

I smile,wait what was my plan just to come up to him and tell him I told him so?

I stand there awkwardly, I see a table of drinks and grab one just to give me something to do. I sip very little every couple of minutes. Then I feel a light tap on my shoulder. I turn around and see Joey. "Hey...wait is that you,Kayla?"

I nod,"Yup same me,different clothes." I feel confidence soar through me. He smiles"Wow,You look...um...beautiful..." He sounds nervous, aaaw he's nervous!

We stare at each other. "You wanna dance?"Joey asks breaking the silence. I nod,we start awkwardly just dancing beside each other.

Then a slower song plays. Its not slow enough to ball room dance, but its slow enough to dance close. We Dance with our bodies almost touching. I stare into his eyes as we do. Those hazel eyes...the eyes I stared into that day...the day that Joey broke...my heart...wait a second. I stop dancing "What's wrong?" Joey asks.

I stand still in silence soaking up my thoughts. I should be breaking his heart like he broke mine and stomped on it. I shouldn't be letting him dance with me just because I'm different looking..."Hello?Kayla?"He waves his hand in front of my face. My mind begins to whirl with thoughts.

I look around and see envious girls staring at me. My heart races, I need to get out of here.

I walk away from him,dashing towards anywhere but him. "Wait where are you going?!" he shouts but I keep going. I walk until I see an empty bathroom. I go in there and lock the door behind me. I sit on the toilet. I pull out my phone and call Dani. It rings and rings but no answer.

Tears run down my cheeks. I'm here so confused and she's out there,probably drunk. I wipe away the tears, No sense crying over it now. I look at myself in the mirror. I'm a mess,I try the best to fix my hair and used to be makeup.

I walk out and try to search the crowd for Dani. God,where is she? I search,I look in empty rooms and more empty rooms and even closets. After about 30 minutes of searching,I give up. I lean against the wall and slide down and rest my head on my knees. I want to go home,change my clothes and avoid Joey as much as possible. I sob into my pants. Where is Dani? She'd be really helpful right now. I cry silently hoping that nobody passes by.

"You okay?" A voice says.

I look up and see a guy. He's got dark brown hair,he's wearing a plaid overshirt with a plain tee underneath.He had light olive skin. He was pretty hot."I'm...fine"I say my voice cracking. He holds out his hand,I grab it and pull myself up. A smile is on his face and his light eyes sparkle. "Why are you here alone?"

"Well my friend is somewhere and I can't find her..."I say. "What she look like?"he asks. "Uh...blonde curly hair, blue shirt,jeans,and boots."

"Oh I seen her...She's down in the kitchen..."He says pointing. I nod,"Thanks"

"Wait...The name is Derek." He says with a dazzling crooked smile. He holds out his hand. I take it and shake it"Kayla..."

"Maybe I can get your number?"He asks. I smile"Maybe...or I can just leave and maybe you'll see me around."I say and go to find Dani.

I sit down on my bed. Finally, comfortable clothes. After finding Dani surrounded by guys,I dragged her away and made her drive me home.

I told her about how I found Joey and then ran away. And I went on a search and then found Derek and started playing hard to get.

It was a long night...
