He had a model look and he was adored by the fairer sex for his Teutonic-brown hair. His crescent-of-moon eyebrows were thin and narrow. He carried an imperious nose well and his angular cheekbones carved down towards a flinty jaw. Unusual for a model, he had a manly, Samson physique.
His mariner-blue eyes were orb round and darted constantly, a-gleam with delight and the vigour of youth. They were soft, Irish eyes and they swam with joy. They shone brightly, like two sapphires dipped in milky pools."Thank you!!"
He kept looking straight into my eyes. And without saying a word he turned away and disappeared like a gust of wind.
His presence near me made me feel uneasy. I had goosebumps all over my body. Our interaction was for less than a minute. But in those few seconds I had felt something different. What was it , I wondered!!I reached home by four in the evening. I made some pancakes for myself and Aunt Marie. I just wanted to divert my mind but I could not resist myself from thinking about that strange handsome man. The way he glared at my eyes.
"Ahhhhhh....huh, stop Kat just stop", i said looking at the mirror.
"I'm back home, kat", said aunt Marie.
"How was your day?"
"Quite tiring!!" , she said settling herself and tiringly smiling at me.
"I have made some pancakes for you, freshen up and have some.", saying this I made my way to the kitchen.
I had never been this affected after meeting anyone. But his thoughts were surely not leaving my mind any sooner. I could still feel the warmth of his hands.
"So, how was your day?", asked Aunt marie with a warm smile.
"It was fun exploring the city. Seeing different things ,meeting different people. Oh!! Mrs. Morgan from next door had come this morning. She asked for you."
"I am too tired to meet her right now.I'll meet her tomorrow morning before leaving for work." Saying this she sat on the chair. She seemed tired.
"Here"' i said handing her the plate of pancakes, "This is my first time I have made pancakes. Hope you like it."
"Really?? Why first time?", she asked with curiosity.
"It's just that I suck in cooking. And I have never made efforts to work on my cooking skills. And today I just happened to cook this. I really have no idea why did I really made those."
"Oh dear, I'm sure you are good at this, look how beautiful these pancakes look", said aunt with such sweetness that i actually felt like a good cook for the very first time in my life.No one had ever eaten my handcooked food with such love as she was eating. I felt happy.
"Are these pancakes really tasty?" I asked with a confusion.
"Are you kidding me? These are really tasty young lady.", she said giving me a thumbs up. My aunt took the plate and went to her room.
My aunt has a habit of laying on her bed and watching television while having food. I too shut the lights and went straight towards my room.
**********
Stars winked at me from the endless arch of void-black beyond the moon's corona. In places they were birthstone-blue and beautiful, all a-glitter in their heavenly finery. While having a beautiful look at the night sky through my window my eyes caught a picture of a fellow man standing in the middle of the road. His head was covered with his hood. His physique looked same as the man who helped me to get through the crowd.
All of sudden I was breathing hard, my feet, my hands all cold. Just a thought of that strange man brought about a change in my body.
The man on the street was glaring towards the window. For a minute we were staring at each other. Then suddenly I moved away from the window and turned off the lights and drew the curtains. I wondered what sort of strange fellows lived in that city.
"Was this person the same person whom I had met before?", i thought to myself.
"No,no thats impossible."
"It's okay kat, don't think too much. You are just overthinking", i said to myself and covered my face with the sheet.
Air was still, night starry with the moon sending silvery streaks of light. Sweat was trickling along my body as I lay. I was all uneasy and disturbed.
I wondered if that man was still there.
I got up and peeped through the window , the street was empty. There was no one. It was all dark, even the street lights were off.
Being releaved that now no one was around, I went back to sleep.
*********
"Why am I having an insomnia tonight of all nights?", I shouted annoyingly. After trying so hard to sleep for all these hours, I couldn't sleep. The clock was ticking...tick tok..tik tok. It was 2'o clock at night and there was complete silence all over the place that I could hear the dripping of water from downstairs. The sound was so annoying that I had no choice rather than to go downstairs to see where the sound was coming from.
A tap in the kitchen wasn't closed properly which caused the dripping sound.
Unable to sleep, I went outside in the garden and sat on the grass and glared at the beautiful shining stars.
All of sudden I felt as if someone is looking at me. At first i ignored but I started feeling a bit uneasy. I looked around but found no one. Well I guess my imaginations have gone way too far. But I could sense that someone was there.
"Hello??"
"Anybody here?"
Anyone who saw me like this would probably think I am mad. Sitting here and calling out for someone in the middle of the night.
And suddenly my eye caught a shadow near the main entrance. I felt my pulse beating fast. My breath, I heard it in short, chattering bursts. I smelled it, too. Fear stunk.
I had no idea what to do. My legs were frozen. I couldn't move but I even couldn't let it go. I gathered all my courage, took a deep breath and made my way towards the shadow.
"Who is it?"
"Who are you?," I asked.
I held a iron rod tightly with my both hands.
The more I got near the shadow, the more I got scared . Fear had reached at its peak that my brain became numb and I couldn't think of anything.
As I reached the spot, I got shocked at the sight of a man.**********
