Chapter-11

It's been a year that I haven't seen Jason around. Where would he be? What would he be doing? I don't know anything.
During this year there has been lots of changes in my life. I feel lonely, I'm not myself at all. I get strange feelings.
But whenever I look at that Moonstone which is the only thing that I have of Jason keeps me calm. I am still living in hope for his return. Since the day he moved away from my life, it became the same as it was before I met him. But the only difference was that I couldn't sleep at night.
According to my mom I had reduced a lot of weight and my skin had become pale.
But I couldn't find any change in myself.
All I ever did was just to sit near the window and stare at the fields.

"Are you going to spend your entire life sitting near the window?", shouted my mom from one corner of the room.

I didn't pay any attention and sat like a dummy with no emotions.

"Katherine, please help me with these threads.",said Betty.

I took the thread and untied the knots without saying a word. I didn't understand myself that what kind of human had I become.

"Tonight we have to go to Mr. Forbes house for dinner. They have invited us for their anniversary celebration.", said mom.

"I don't want to go, you guys can have fun",saying this I went straight away to my room without listening my mom's reply.
I know that was rude of me but I didn't want to listen her lecture again on life.
I sat on the desk of my room and glared at the stone. I was missing Jason real bad today because today was the day that we actually split  a year back.
I was running my hand too hard on the stone that it started giving some blue rays out of it. The surface of the stone became hot which scared me and I hurriedly kept the stone in the box again.
It was 4 in the evening. The sky started to change its colour, a bright sunny day was turning into a dark cloudy evening.

"Kat, which dress shall I wear for tonight",asked Betty showing me her best two dresses.
I chose a dress of white color with flower imprints on it.Then she hurried back to her room to get ready.
My mom entered my room and sat beside me. She took my hand in here and said,

"I know there are lots of things that you just can't share with anyone but you just can't act like a dummy for your entire life. I may not able to guess the amount of pain you are going through but there is not a such thing that you can't overcome.
Take this dress and get ready and be a good girl. We'll leave in an hour before the weather gets bad."

Saying this she left the room with the dress in my hands. I knew that I was behaving a bit awkward. So I decided to go for a change.
So I got ready, it was a long floral dress of peach. I sat infront of the mirror, combed my hair and did a bit makeup which I think I hadn't done in a while.
I looked way better now. The moment I was about to open the door, Betty already came in. She glared at me and the screamed,
"Mommmmmmmmm!!!!"
Hearing which my mom rushed upstairs, her eyes were mesmerized looking at me.

"Why you guys behaving like this?", I asked.

My daughter looks beautiful. It's good to see you again after a long time.

"I'm pretty sure Mr. Forbes son will call for Katherine",remarked Betty.

Mom pulled her cheeks and asked her to shut her mouth. She shouted in pain and then we three broke into laughter and hugged each other having a small family time.
It was already 5:30 p.m and the weather was changing drastically. We sat in the car and made our way towards Mr. Forbes house. Looking at the sky it seemed as if it was about to rain. We carried a huge bouquet for them and some sweets.
We reached their house by 6 and it seemed we were the last ones.
Mrs. Forbes welcomed us with a warm hug at the entrance and Mr. Forbes as usual with his classic greet. There weren't that many people.

Let me clear mostly aged people and some kids of Betty's age. I guess I only had Mr. Forbes's son's company. I actually didn't like him, not because he didn't look good on the out but he was kind of a flirt. He didn't respect girls and I hate such men.
So I tried my level best to avoid him and pretended as I don't know that he is also present here.

We all sat together and Mr. And Mrs. Forbes were sharing their experience of their married life. Then around 8:00 we all gathered for cake cutting during which Jacob, Mr. Forbes son stood next to me.

"Hey, How are you?", asked he.

"I'm good!!", I replied and didn't bother to ask about him.

"Would like to go out?", he asked.

I looked at mom who signed me to go along with him. I really didn't want to go but I had promised mom to listen to her. So I walked with him out.
While we were walking around and he was bragging about his work and fame, I heard some noises around. At first I ignored but the noise kept increasing and when I bothered to look what it was about all of sudden it started raining and Jacob leaving me behind ran under the shade.
I looked at him with a wierd expression and enjoyed the rain ignoring him who kept calling me to come inside.

"You'll catch cold, come in.",shouted Jacob but I didn't pay any attention to him.
While I stood under the rain with my hands opened I saw a figure standing near the fields and without giving a second thought I ran towards the direction where I saw someone.
It had become foggy and the rain made it difficult for me to see around. Then I suddenly saw a thin chain lying on the ground. I picked it and to my surprise it was exactly like the one that Jason used to wear. I looked around, ran a distance. I somehow felt his presence around. Years of joy overflowed my eyes.
I ran like a mad dog and called out for him.

"Jason, Is that you?", I shouted but didn't get a reply.

I guess I must have been mistaken, anybody can have a chain like this one and there's no chance that it could be him. If he couldn't show up in a year why would he come now.
The rain subsided and even the sky was getting cleared. Full moon, moon-bleached stone path, eerie stillness, almost sinister. White owl swept silently overhead.The weather around here is always unpredictable.
I was all wet so I made my way to head back in when I suddenly heard a loud howling of a wolf. The voice seemed a bit familiar. It's obvious that every wolf will make a common noise but this sound felt different. I glared at the full moon and all of sudden ran towards the direction from where I heard the sound. I kept running untill I was in the middle of the woods. I could still hear the loud cry. I followed the direction and found a king size wolf with red shiny eyes glaring at me, he suddenly made a long jump over me. I looked at him while he flew in the air all over me and striked the ground with his thick strong legs.
He was breathing hard, really hard. I stood motionless there staring at him. He turned his gaze towards me and we kept staring into each others eyes.
I took a step forward towards him. He seemed a bit different not like the other wolves exactly same like the other night Jason turned into.
I couldn't understand but my inner conscious yelled telling me that he his my Jason.

"I knew you'll come back", I said running  my hands through his hair.

He took hold of my waist and made me sit at his back and ran to his fullest speed. I grabbed him from his hair and sat firmly.
He took me near a lake and put me down.
Everytime the moon hid itself behind the clouds I could see Jason's face in that wolf appearance for a fraction of second.
I hugged him tightly and started crying.

"I missed you, I missed you real bad!!"

I couldn't believe my eyes that I found Jason. He was back into my life again. I know he'll still hesitate to stay due to this side of his but I don't care. I know the year that I spent without him was complete hell I'm not letting go of him this time.
I kissed his nose and we both waited for the night to end. We sat near the lake glaring at the night sky.

We both were happy to find each other again, as I ran my fingers across his ears he howled and filled the night with his hollering.
