"(Name)-chan's really good friends with the third years." Hinata said, putting the balls away.

Tanaka looked around, making sure no one but the first years were left in the gym.

"We don't really talk about her unless Daichi-senpai or Suga-senpai brings her up." Tanaka said.

"Why is that?" Kageyama and Tsukishima asked.

They gave each other death stares for a moment before listening to Tanaka.

"Believe it or not, she's Suga's ex-girlfriend."

"EH?!" Hinata exclaimed.

"Shh!!"

"How long ago did it end?" Tsukishima asked.

"Tsukki! You're being too nosy!" Yamaguchi sighed.

"But you're curious, too."

A new voice answered this time, and it was Sugawara himself.

"S-Suga-senpai.." Tanaka rubbed the back of his neck apologetically.

"It's ok, they deserve to know."

He sat down in their tiny circle, joining the conversation about (Name).

"Suga-senpai, you're a really nice guy, so why did it end?" Hinata looked at him with big eyes.

Tanaka gulped at the long period of silence. Sugawara's eyes were casted down for awhile, a certain scene replaying in his head.

".. I can't answer why just yet. I'm not myself when I think about it." He smiled.

"How long were you together?" Yamaguchi carefully asked his senpai.

"Since seventh grade, so altogether three years."

"Do you miss her?" Daichi was hovering over Tanaka.

Of course I do. Whenever I'm near her, I just want to hold her like I used to. I can barely restrain myself from staring during class. I want to tell her how much I love her everyday but—

"No, but we had a good run."

"Ahh, you're so lucky Suga-senpai! If I ever date a girl like (Name), I would never let her go." Tanaka squirmed around.

Me too.

"Can you even get her to like you?" Tsukishima snickered.

"Why you—" Tanaka growled.

Daichi and Sugawara were the last ones to leave again, walking side by side back home.

"Why did you lie earlier?" Daichi suddenly asked.

"About what?" Sugawara looked at his friend.

"It's obvious you miss her."

Sugawara smiled.

"Why are you still my friend? Even after what I did."

"Because you're an idiot who doesn't know what he's doing. And honestly, it was my fault too."

"How?"

"Maybe you'll find out another time." Daichi smiled as he walked down his street.

Sugawara stood before his house, debating whether or not he should enter.

Ever since a few weeks ago, things hadn't been the same at home. His mother was having a hard time accepting the fact that her husband had left. One night, she was stressed and frustrated— causing her to lash out on Sugawara. He let it happen, since he tried his best to lift some of the burden off. But before he knew it, the one night had turned into weeks.
