You stood still at the doorway of the gym.

He was back.

"(Name)-senpai!"

"On second thought, maybe I'll skip today—"

But your attempt to run was pointless to the short, but strong player who's arms slithered around your waist.

"You never even said hey to me!" His voice was deep and playful.

"Because I didn't wanna!"

"Why not?"

"You're weird!"

"How can you call your boyfriend 'weird?'"

You squirmed in his firm hold. But in the corner of your eye, you could see the silver-headed boy subtly freeze by the bench.

He's gotten over it, right?

"Let go of me!"

"Not until you give me a kiss." Nishinoya smirked.

"No!"

"Just on the cheek, please~"

"But we're not—"

"Fine, I guess you wanna be stuck like this for awhile."

You gave him a bitch stare, but he still didn't budge. After a good thirty seconds, you quickly placed a peck on his cheek. He gave you one tight squeeze before finally letting go.

"Finally, I can breath."

"Shut up, you enjoyed it."

Shaking your head, you walked towards the girls' locker room. Silently closing the door, you thought in silence.

Your birthday was soon, but something was way more special about this one. You held up your pinky— soon the red string would show itself to you. More than anything though, you wanted it to lead to someone promising. Someone that was not Sugawara.

As you slipped on your adidas sweatpants, the door opened. Standing there was Shimizu.

"Can I?" She asked.

"Of course."

It was awkward as she opened the locker next to yours. But it was also sad, because you two weren't always like this. Shimizu was your best friend, and it was rare for there to even be a period of silence between you two. Now it was different. Not a single word was exchanged.

You slipped your Karasuno sweatshirt over your head, about to leave. But Shimizu stopped you.

"(l/n)-san.." You could feel how tense she was, "Will you manage the team with me?"

"I still don't know."

"You want to, right? You wouldn't be here if you didn't."

"I mean, I guess—"

"Then why are you holding back?"

You sighed heavily, irritated at the question. The answer was obvious, why did she feel the need to make you say it?

"It's kind of screwed up that out of all people, you're asking me that."

You fully faced her, eyes directly landing on her.

"I love this team, I really do. More than anything I want to spend as much time as I can with them."

Why I'm holding back? It's because of you and Koushi that I can't. I'm mad, I'm upset, I'm still not over what happened last year. Honestly, I don't think things will ever be the same between us. But who knows?"
