Autumn had just laid it's gentle palm across the northern hemisphere. America has been in a heated war for years, Japan not giving up their end of the battle. The war had started because of the Eastern continents wanting to be the dominant races, but America and our normal alliances did not approve, causing the minorities to revolt, generating a nuke more powerful than any other known recorded bomb. Japan was planning on dropping it in the Eastern states of America, hoping to blow up the WhiteHouse and other important government facilities. But even Japan's allies disapproved of this idea and brushed it aside, letting it grow dust. But as the Allied Forces began to gain control over the Western countries once more, Japan took action against the votes of their partners. They flew a modern version of B-29 Superfortress over the Americas and dropped the explosive directly in Washington. As the surrounding states became affected by the blast radius, states on the western coast began taking cover in their bomb shelters and basements. Few survived.
But as the Japanese began to fly over the Pacific, the blast caused their plane systems to crash and power down. The pilots and soldiers on this flight died moments later, the air surrounding them burning. Japan had underestimated the blast force of this bomb, which resulted in the world being seared by flames. The air above ground turned to flame as the thermobaric chemicals spread and the heat turned the air into fire. With each intake of breath, your lungs would be burned from the inside out until you finally die.
Those under the surface of the planet, however, survived. But most were too panicked and anxious, which led to them exiting the safety of their hideout. Upon opening the doors and latches, flames sprouted into the small confinements, killing the inhabitants instantly. Those who were patient enough survived, confined in their temporary homes. After a few months of hiding, they finally emerged, poking their heads out into the open air in what felt like decades. They breathed in sharply, the air surprisingly clean. Yet radiation swarmed around them, which led to the old and young dying. But they eventually began to adapt to this chemical filled ecosystem, using the stored air tanks and masks to filter the air as they built up a utopia slowly from the dirt and rubble around them.
Eventually, they had finished the base project of the Community of Eden, but as the Community began to continuously grow, the Templars renamed Eden to the City of Adamont. But this City was a Meritocratic Union, meaning only the most talented got the most desirable jobs. Those who were living in poverty originally before the explosion were given Maintenance jobs and were known as the Undesirables. Police would beat the men and some upper Desirables would abuse their power and illegally take children from their families and use them as slaves.
But soon, the need for human police and Law Keepers grew smaller by the week. Eventually, they manufactured their own breed of machines, naming them MechRuts. The most valuable of them all were the Hounds. These MechRuts were easily trained and programmed to do whatever their orders were, and without hesitation. Hounds were capable of anything if programmed. Most human residents owned a Hound as either a companion, or for protection. The Associative Arch, one of the three highest branches in the new government, controls their protocol and makes sure that Companion Hounds behaved like real pets, while Attack and Defense Hounds responded to disobedience with patient force and aggression.
The soldier and authority MechRuts, or the Progressives, keep peace when the Hounds cannot. Though these MechRuts program themselves, their authenticated minds giving them all individual personalities. But they obtain human feelings and reactions, meaning some of them snap, becoming what the City of Adamont know as the Yeagers. These types of machinery know that they're not human and use their abilities against the human race. They want to be the dominant figures and use the humans as their puppets and workers. But the Progressives usually hunt these Yeagers down and disable them before they can contaminate any more MechRuts with their ideas of over throwing the Three Tiers of Government; the Templars, Associative Arch, and the High Regents.
The final MechRut is known as the Worker, plain and simple, though these MechRuts earn the name Segador, or Harvester in Spanish. This breed of MechRut fills in for humans if they go sick and must stay home from work. Segadors are the replacement and fillings of the City. If a student is absent, a Segador that is assigned to said student takes their place and records all the notes and collects paperwork for the student to review and finish for when they return. If a farmer has been injured, Segadors take their place in harvest and farm work. If a Detora, or head of a company, is in need of an assistant, Segadors are by their side. These MechRuts are programmed by their owner to do a certain task, but they bug out once in a while, which results in the need of them to be shut down by the Progressives.
With the City of Adamont at peace for decades, residents feel as though they are finally safe. Those from around the globe travel to Adamont to gain citizenship. Segadors act as drone pilots as well, who receive notices from a possible addition and fly said drone to pick up said addition. The City continuously grows. But with more Progressives turning towards the Yeager side of authority, citizens are more reserved when it comes to the violent MechRuts. The Associative Arch began reprogramming Hounds to react like actual dogs; the emotions of certain situations would reflect how they respond. They now also had minds of their own. But with the growing threat of Yeagers taking over, humans must resort to the impossible and unthinkable; attempt escape from the safe haven that they had been associated with for lifetimes.
