The smell of blood taunted her with the memories she so desperately kept at bay. Her veins where cold, freezing even, her back was pressed against the solid pavement. The fog crept over her face, daring her to wake up.

The equally broken man lay next to her, a peaceful look painted on his face, naive to what was to come next. His ringed hand twitched; waking up.

Kai's eyes flickered open, a low groan escaping his parched lips. Rolling over on his side, suddenly aware of the ache in his chest, he woke to the stomach girl next to him. Wet blood drowned his shirt, it covered his abdomen, his hands and he had a little on his face. Eyebrows drawn, Kai placed his hand on the floor for stability, them pushed himself up. He had a gaping hole in his chest, he assumed he had had his heart ripped out.

They where alone, even straining his supernatural ears he couldn't even hear a heartbeat, fear splintered through his veins; remembering what happened before he woke up.

It was like the pain in his chest had vanished, Kai pushed himself up quickly, stumbling towards a car for stability as his wound healed. His breathing quickened, panic settling in his stomach.

Eyes darting to the unnamed girl on the floor, he ragged a bloodied hand through his messy hair. His mind raced, desperately grasping for reasons that he could have been dreaming.

"Fuck!" Kai shouted, punching the wing mirror off the car he leaned on, trying to relive the tightening feeling in his heart. It clattered to the floor; Kai stared at it helplessly.

Tears brimmed in the corners of his icy blue eyes, the reality settling in. Anger brimmed in the back of his throat, bubbling into a monster that begged to be let out. He smashed the window screen of the car and then progressed to kick the vehicle across the road using his newfound strength.

Veins splinted out from the bottom of his eyes, something rare that happened, he usually had a cap on his fangs, yet the untamed rage he felt at that moment had his teeth bearing.

This noise had stirred Elise. Her fingers twitched like Kai's previously had; grabbing his attention. Wiping the pain from his face, Kai sauntered in her direction, deep down feeling the guilt from dragging her into his mess; even if Bonnie believed she deserved it, he couldn't help but feel bad when he watched her peaceful face change into a pained one as she woke.

A small gasp escaped her rose lips as her eyes cracked open. She was met with Kai, standing over her, once again staring into her mountain green eyes. The world seemed to spin as she pushed herself up by her elbows. Dazed, she groaned, suddenly aware of the ache in her back.

"Good morning sleepyhead." He greeted with an empty smile, forcing every ounce of emotion he felt to the back his mind.

"Wh-" Elise paused, looking around for answers, "What happened?"

"We got dumped in a prison world." Kai forced, breathing back rage. Elise notices his fists where clenched.

"What, why?" Elise frowned, slowly getting up, only to fall forward into Kai, he stiffened, pushing her away from him when she got her balance.

"Those people, they thought we deserved to be locked away." He mumbled, rubbing his eyes with his hands, then proceeding to kick another car across the empty road.

Elise thought for a minute, before realising they had woke outside of her apartment block.

"Hey why are we outside? Didn't we pass out in the hallway?" Elise asked, turning to face Kai, who was sat slumped against a postbox a good few feet away from her.

"They had to kill us in order to send us here, I guess they ripped my heart out and threw us both out the window." Kai stated, pointing up the the smashed window way up the tall building.

A small laugh left Elise's throat, "Assholes." She mumbled.

"So we're stuck here then?"

"Pretty much, yeah. Unless we can find a way out, we will stay here for the rest of eternity." Kai said, standing up straight.

"What do you mean? I'm a siphon, I'm not immortal like you."

Kai's face broke into a mocking smile, almost laughing at her naive thought. "What, did you think they would put us in here in isolation because of everything we've ever done, and just let us kill ourselves when we've had enough?" He let out a curt laugh. "Funny." Kai snarked, walking towards the apartment block.

Elise's eyes widened as she realised why Kai seemed so helpless and truly broken at the situation. They where stuck in this snapshot of the real world forever. Elise's mind spun with questions, she didn't realise that they would never age, a different day would never pass, they would be stuck together literally forever. Elise had accepted her fate long before that day, she would welcome death with open arms if the time ever came, but the thought of spending an eternity carrying the guilt that kept her awake at night terrified her.

She followed Kai, unsure of what to say or do. He kicked the main door open, it snapped off its hinges yet Kai looked as if he had just flicked a piece of paper. Elise could see the buried fear in his movements, he was covering his deep emotions with rage.

Much to her dismay, Kai was resisting the overbearing urge to rip her throat open. Kai had been having difficulty in keeping his urges under control since he had turned, the sound of blood flowing through Elise's veins alone was enough to make him snap, never mind the unrelenting anger he felt towards Bonnie Bennet and the Salvatore brothers.

Elise thought she should formally introduce herself, since they where going to be stuck together for a while.

"Elisabeth." She stuck her hand out, "But I prefer Elise."

Kai was silent moment, allowing the small talk to wash away his rage. "Malachi. He greeted stiffly, "But I prefer Kai."

Elise snorted when he had said his full name.

"Wow, I thought my name was bad." She deadpanned. Kai rolled his eyes.

"So, Malachi, what's the plan?" She smirked, crossing her arms over her chest. Kai let out a breathy laugh.

"I don't know, Elizabeth, you tell me."
