Carl's P.O.V
The sun peaks in through the upstairs window. Luke and I are bathed in warm light. I look over to see a bird flying past. Luke soon wakes do to the bright light in his eyes.I had been awake long before. Thinking. Worrying. I can't shake this weird feeling. Like we're missing something important.
"Awake so early?" Luke yawns and stretches.
He snakes an arm around my body, pulling me in to him. Sometime during the night we un-cuddled.
"Early bird gets the worm," I answer.
Luke smiles and drapes a leg over me. His face turns a shade of red. His eyes look as if he's a deer caught in headlights.
"Yeah," I laugh, "We're still naked."
"Oh.." he says shyly, "Sorry.."
"No problem," I smile at him, "Hey, did we lock the door last night?"
"Don't think so," he laughs at our eagerness.
"We'd better get dressed. I'd hate for someone to walk in and see us like this. How awkward.."
Luke laughs and nods in agreement, taking his leg off of me.
I lean up to get out of bed when Luke stops me.
"What?"
"Your neck.."
"Shit," I curse under my breath, "Can I hide it?"
"Not without it being obvious as to what you're doing."
I turn to face him and see a huge hickey hugging both sides of his collarbone.
"Damn," I say, then smile, "I got you good."
"I'll say.." he says barley audible.
I smile at his remark.
I rip the covers off of me then swing my feet over the side of the bed. I prop my elbows on my knees and rest my face in my hands.
"What are we going to do?" I ask trying not to panic, but ending up failing.
Luke sighs, "There's nothing new really can do."
"How am I going to explain this!" I think aloud.
"To your parents? Or.. to her?" he asks. "Carl, I know now may not be the best time.. But, we should talk about her."
"I know.." I sigh.
I can't blame him for bringing it up. It's completely understandable. I feel bad for leading her on. I feel bad for watching him die a little every time she touches me. I know what needs to be done.. I'm just scared.
"Today?" he asks cautiously, not wanting to upset me.
"It has to be," I answer.
I feel the bed shift behind me and then warm arms wrap around me. I lean my head back, resting it against his naked chest. He plants a soft kiss on my forehead.

Once we're dressed, and my eye is covered again, we can't delay the inevitable any longer. Luke notices me fidgeting with the hem of my shirt. I'm pulled into a warm hug that I appreciate deeply.
"We'll be okay," he comforts, "We always are."
"We always are," I say confirming it.
I take a moment to soak up his hug, letting it all sink in.
Her hugs we always so comforting. But his.. His arms have always felt like home.
