Justin and Gracie's relationship started on the rockiest of terms - after all, he was initially in it just to get her into bed. But now the loved up couple are off to New York for a simple vacation, some time to themselves... or so they thought. Justin's past, a past he tried to desperately to conceal, is steadily catching up with him and the consequences will be dire. Can he protect himself from slipping back into his past ways, and more importantly, can he protect Gracie from the harm that is inevitably coming for her? After all, if he doesn't, he may end up losing more than he can cope with.

Suddenly, someone cleared his throat behind us and I glanced back, only to find a random man. I looked away, finding no reason to let my eyes linger but Justin stared on, his gaze scrutinizing.

“Justin.” I hissed, tugging on his arm. “Stop staring.”

He averted his attention and I couldn’t help but think he looked a bit shook up and confused.

“You okay?” I murmured, peering up at him.

He smiled, nodding before the air hostess welcomed me aboard. I pushed my unease at Justin’s reaction to the random stranger to the back of my mind and forced myself to focus on the trip that was so close.

“I love you.” I reminded Justin as we settled ourselves into our seats.

He took a moment to reply before clasping my hand.

“And I love you. Never forget that. Okay?”

I looked into his sincere, hazel eyes, recognising the meerest hint of... worry?

I nodded slightly.

"Okay."

Sighing contentedly, I smiled as I leaned my head on Justin’s shoulder. His muscular, tattooed arm was wrapped around me and he gently let his head rest on top of mine.

“This feels like a dream.” I admitted, taking in the bright blue sky outside the tiny, oval window, littered with cotton candy clouds. “Off to my favourite city with my favourite man.” I murmured.

“Cheesy.” Justin snickered, planting a soft kiss on my blonde hairline.

“You love it!” I defended, lifting my head up and pressing my lips to his for a few seconds.

“Could you imagine if you didn’t actually open the card?” I could practically hear his smirk even as I faced away from him. “You looked like you were on the verge of dumping my ass.”

“Shut up.” I grumbled, my cheeks flushing slightly. I didn’t exactly want to be reminded of my drama queen episode when I thought all Justin had gotten me for my birthday was a card. Turns out, I had to actually open the thing to find out that my present was a trip to New York. My bad.

“So, what’s the plan when we get there?” I asked, turning to face him and tucking my legs underneath me. It was impossible to get comfortable on an airplane.

“Well,” he began. “It’ll be around 10PM when we get to the hotel, so we can either crash for the night or go see the nightlife and shit.” He informed me, shrugging.
