A few months later

“Please don’t forget Kenny, this is important to me.” I pleaded with my boyfriend through the phone as I stood in the courtyard of my school.
“I won’t woman, now go before you miss something important.” He rushed me off the phone.
Classic Kenny.
“Ok, and don’t forget to feed Harlem!” I said referring to the dog he got me not too long ago. If it was up to him Harlem would starve.
“I won’t baby! Love you.” He said making my heart flutter. It isn’t the first time he said it, but everytime it makes my heart skip a beat.
“Love you too.” I smiled before hanging up and rushing back into my art class.
Tonight we have senior showcase which is where a senior a week put on an art show, showcasing the art they’ve been working on over the years leading up to this moment.
It’s very important to say the least.
This is the moment of truth for me.
There will be tons of people here tonight from parents to important business people that could possibly want to work with you.
“The woman of the night is here!” Mrs. Carter my mentor joked.
“I had to check on my baby.” I playfully rolled my eyes at her.
“Yeah whatever girl!” She smacked her lips
“But uh where were we?” I asked the few students that were in here.
You can pick a handful of friends to help out with the showcase, so of course I had some of my homies to help me out.
“You were telling us which pieces you want to be by the entrance.” My best friend Tey said putting me on track.
“Oh yeah…” I trailed off picking up my Ipad going through the possible outcomes.
After getting almost everything settled and into place there was one more piece that needed a place.
“Which one is gonna be the center piece Kali?” Mrs. Carter asked
“Two bodies, one soul” I found myself smiling
It’s a piece I’ve been working on since Kendrick and I got together and it’s near and dear to my heart, because it’s what I think we have.
No one has ever seen it, not even him...so why not show it to everyone including him tonight two weeks before I graduate?
My mind was made on what I wanted to do and how I wanted it and he was in those plans.

“You betta feed that damn dog before it pass out!” YG laughed at Kali’s dog sat and watched him eat for nearly 15 minutes.
“Word.” I chuckled standing up heading to the kitchen with Harlem hot on my tail.
“What time we heading out to Kali’s art show?” He asked.
It was just him and I chilling at my house until she come home.
“She said 8.” I yelled so he could hear me
“Fasho. I’m mad hype.” I heard him chuckle
I too was excited for my baby. She’s been working hard on this one night for months now.
“Me too.” I said putting dog food in Harlem’s dog bowl
“Have you seen any of the art yet?” He asked as I took my seat next to him.
“Nah. She won’t let me.” I muttered flipping the channels.
“Sound just like her.” He mumbled making me laugh.
He was right, when it came to her art she was a control freak to say the least.
“I’ll be good though.” I found myself smiling. I’m proud of her for finishing school, and following her dream.

Pushing opened Kendrick’s front door I heard nothing but reruns of Maritan and light snores.
Shaking my head I followed the trend of snores which led me to the livingroom where not only was he knocked out on one sofa, across from him laid YG.
“Wake y’all asses up!” I yelled making both of them jump and me laugh loudly.
“MAN that shit ain’t funny Kali!” YG mumbled wide eyed
He looked so ugly when he was half sleep. Giggling at my antics I made my way over to Kendrick.
“Baby!” I whined
“Huh?” He muttered covering his eyes with his arm
“Get up, and start getting ready.” I pushed him softly looking around the room for Harlem. Shit he was even laid out on the floor.
“I am baby.” He grunted
“Do you know what time it is?” I asked him checking my Michael Korse watch.
“Nah.” He replied although I know he don’t care.
The world could be ending and he’ll be wrapped up in a blanket going to town!
“6:00! What time is the show?” I quized him
“8:00” He finally opened his eyes
“Wake that ass up then!” I yelled heading upstairs.
I do everything around here because if I don’t it won’t get done.
