''Hurry up Kaylee! We're going to be late darling!'' my grand-mother shout from down the stairs.

''Give me a second, i'm trying to dress up Emily!'' I answered.

I was in my daughter and I's room, trying to pick up something to put on her. They said on the radio that today was going to be a beautiful and sunny day, but right now, at 6:30 am, it was preatty cold outside. Welcome to Southport, the little Coastal town in North Carolina that nobody knows, where the weather is weirdo.

I wanted to pick something cute for my two and a half years old daugter, because she was going to come with me to the restaurant. My grandma owned this place. It was a really cute building near the Southport's Marina where the food was really good. I started working there when I move in with my grandma. I really loved that place. It had a big terrace with a beautiful view on the water and the Marina where I used to sit ans read a book during my breaks.

I finaly picked a little pink dress for Emily and I decided to bring her favorite sweater with us, so if she was cold, she just had to put it on.

''Mummy can I bring toys?'' the little blond girl with light green eyes asked me.

''Of course baby, put them in your bag and we'll go before Nana Evlyn gets mad'' I lift her in my arm and we made our way downstairs.

Grandma was looking outside by the window in the kitchen. From our home, we were able to see the Marina, the restaurant and the gaz station where tourists stopped when they need snacks of to use the bathrooms. When she noticed us, she walked toward me and then placed a kiss on my cheek. My grand-mother is one of my favorite person in the world. She help me so much while I was pregnant... I'll never be enough thankfull for what she did for Emily and I.

''Let's go, we have an opening to do'' she said with a wink. ''Did you eat something for breakfeast darling?''

''No, we're going to eat something later.'' The advantage of working in a restaurant, is that you can have free food all the time.

The walk to our workplace took a few minutes. After having unlock the door, Nana went into the kitchen to start the ovens and cut some fruits that we were going to sell for the breakfeast. I setted Emily on the terrace and helped her to put her toys on a table.

Usualy, she wasn't disturbing the customers. The majority of them tought that she was really cute and sometimes chatted a bit with her. Emily was sociable with people, sometimes a little bit too much...

I was pretty proud of her. I never thought that I was able to raise a baby by myself. Being a 19 year old mom wasn't easy at all. I did really difficult sacrifices for her, like my relationship with my parents. But there's not a day where i regret my choices.

I sat down on a chair and looked over at the Marina. A lot of people were preparing their boat for the day that they were going to spend fishing. I loved the smell of the salt water. It had a calming effect on me and helped me think.

I cant belive 3 years ago, I was that little girl from New-York who had parents who loved her, lots of friends and a boyfriend. I used to threw parties every nights until like 3 am and came back home really drunk. It's weird to see how one night can just tear everything away from you. One little night without protection because i was too freaking drunk to remember that condoms happended to exist. And it was my first time. Damn it wasn't the first time that every girl dream about. But I have Emily now, and only god knows how i would never exange her for anything in this world.

Nana came back on the deck and put two plates full of bacon, eggs and fruits in front of me. One had a smaller portion in it and everything was cut in little pieces ; it was the one for Emily. I setted my daughter on the chair beside me and she started to eat like a pig.
