"Mommy mommy!! Look," I said pointing the black box on mommy's dresser. But mommy wasn't looking, she was talking to some man out the window. My lil 7 years old brain didn't understand what mommy was being so secretive about. She didn't understand why there is a guy dressed in all black hiding in our backyard.
"MOMMYYYY"I whined "Look. Mom. MOM.Mommyyy." But still, mommy wasn't listening she was busy.
So I waited for their conversation to end....
5 minutes later....
"Mark you don't belong here. I've got a life. You've got a life. If you keep showing up, you will put everyone in danger." My mommy whispered out the window. " You don't want to put our daughter in danger, do you? Mark, do you?"
"But baby please come back. I can protect you. Some big shot isn't going to help. Money isn't going to keep our daughter safe. Baby look at it this way. Come back with me and the b-"
"Mommy, who is that?" Pointing out at the man outside the window. He seemed quite familiar. Dirty blonde hair brushing against his forehead, dark blue eyes, not the light kind that makes you feel somewhat evil inside as if they are piercing your soul, but the calm ocean eyes type. Sharp facial features but not too sharp leaving a smooth looking surface.
I wanted to reach out to him and brush my fingertips to his face. I know, I'm a creeper for strangers. But he doesn't, isn't a stranger to me somehow.
"Baby darling, go inside please and watch some tv. I'm busy at the moment talking to a friend." Mommy coaxed.
"Okay mommy," I giggled and blew a kiss to the stranger outside and pecked mommy on the cheek," Don't be too long mommy, Mr. Brax needs help finding Foywer. He ran off again, he says." I giggled again and ran out the door.
That was the last time for several years that I had seen that man. The last since I saw that box. Surely not the last time that I got caught hiding my doggy Foywer out in the garage. Not the last time I got in trouble or brought trouble. They say, trouble follows you around. Literally, trouble was after me. Trouble was greedy. Trouble knew mommy's secret and I didn't. Trouble is also a smart meanie.
"Callie..." Mr. Brax's annoyed voice sounded through the closet."Callie, come on out, I've got a cookie."
Giggles. As the closet door opens, letting light peak through and momentarily blind my child-like eyes.
"Callie, where is your mom?" Mr.Brax asked when he came into view.
"Mommy is busyyyy... She said don't bother her. She is too busy talking to the man outside." I whined
"What man?..." He coaxed "Callie, who?"
Shurgs. "Whaall I don't knowwww. That's mommy's buswiiness. Why don't you ask her?"
"Sweetie, I can't ask her if I don't know where she is.....Do you know where your mom is?" He asked furrowing his eyebrows. I could tell he was beyond frustrated m King me giggle and shrug once more before scurring out of the closet. Jumping on the purple fluffy bed, I always like purple, royalty to loyalty is what daddy would say,I erupted into more giggles, repeating daddy's words. Royalty to loyalty. Royalty to loyalty.
I didn't understand what it meant, I just knew that someday those words said to me at night would become the string, the loose-end keeping me tied down so I wouldn't float away, leaving this world, earth.
With a frustrated sigh, My. Brax left my purple tinted room, shaded by my purple curtains. Watching as he left I wonder if he knew who the stranger for before was. I wondered what my mommy was keeping from my daddy. All to soon I caught sight of my tea-set and decided, eh, might as well. Don't want me cups to be rusty.Arghhh.

Clunk...
Clunk-k....
Ignore it.
Tap, tap-tap....
Clink...
"Callie.." a deep, slighlty hoarse, voice whispered.
IGNORE IT. Mommy will take care of it.
Clunk-clink...
Nearly shouting into my baby ears."CAALlie.." But I could tell it wasan merely a whisper.
I took my hand and swiped near my ear and groaned that was meant to say zip it. I need my beauty sleep.
"Callie....come to me..."I felt as if my will power dissappeared from my 7 year old form.
Getting put of bed and walking to the door, the whispers were fading into one. Calling to me,"mommy?" I asked unsure.
"Mommy isn't going to help you...let me help you darling, come me baby girl.."a whimper escaped my lips as the whisper turned hoarse and my will had completely drained.
My body moved forward, the floorboards creaked, the wooded floor in the hallway as I passed through the doorway has made it seem cooler in the room than it was. Chills crawled up my spine. I couldn't feel. The cold was just a wisp blowing on my spongebob pjs.
I walked up to a big oak door of the cabin themed hall. It was meant to be intimidating, haunted. The one door that I've never been through I want allowed to, a normal day, I would have looked away. But today isn't normal, I don't know what today is.
