It's been a while. I know Gajeel is out of character but this chapter you'll find out why.

Gajeel woke up. He felt pain shoot all the way throughout his body and he yelped. Slowly the memories of the morning's events came swirling back into his mind, and he cried. Hot tears streaming down his face. Looking up at the analog clock in the nurse office he saw that it was lunch time.
He was about to get out of bed after throwing the covers off, but was stopped by the nurse.
"Gajeel you need to rest. You are in no condition to move."
"But my classes-" he tried to reason.
'We already called your dad, he's on his way." The nurse came over to tuck him in and give him some pills.
"Porlyusica..please.." he begged, but she just handed him a glass of water.
After taking them he realized they were sleeping pills and in no time he was unconscious.

Laxus was eating lunch with Cana.
"I heard you got detention," she told him.
"Where'd you hear that from?" he asked. He wondered how word could get out so quickly.
"You do remember my dad is Gildarts right? He told me that he'd be home late because of you. But it's not like I care so I don't know why he told me that..." she either trailed off or he just stopped paying attention to her. His eyes were peeled for a familiar dark haired mage, but if he thought logically he would know that there is no way Gajeel would quickly recover even with the help of Porlyusica.
He felt really bad and he wanted to make up for it badly but he was not sure how and if Gajeel would accept it. He literally did not know what came over him. Why did he act that way? Why did he enjoy it? Did he have a sadistic side? Or was it his alpha side?
Laxus had so many questions and brewing on it would not get him anywhere. The library could possibly have the answers he was looking for. He left Cana talking about not really caring about her dad and having a full on rant about him.
Laxus, however, knew it was the opposite, if she did not care she would not talk about him this much. Also he remembered the time when the school was attacked by some really strong mages from a gang and Gildarts took them on alone. She was worried and crying because no one could leave their classrooms and there was no updates on his condition. When she saw him she ran out crying and hugging him, the man was untouched, not a scratch on him.

He arrived at the library searching for any books related to Dragon slayers.

Gajeel was back at Phantom Lord, his step-dad was the principal, Jose. It was the worst time of his life. Gajeel's mom remarried when he was younger and then she passed away from a disease. Jose was now the only parent Gajeel had and he transferred him to Phantom Lord when he was offered the job and they had to move.
Gajeel was in despair. He had just lost his mom, but now he was losing his best friend.
That was when things started getting bad. Gajeel was a child so he was solely dependent on Jose. Jose took advantage of that. He would beat Gajeel out of his frustration from work, when he was not getting things his way or just for fun. Gajeel was beaten bloody.
"Isn't your body made of iron? I'm sure you can take this, man up!" he said to Gajeel as he mercilessly beat him.
Gajeel could not say or do anything. Then there were his bullies at school. Gajeel had a mouth on him. Keyword 'had'. The bullies and Jose 'tamed him'. The girls felt sorry and would protect him in school. Not saying he did not put up a fight, he did. He was just beaten because it was an unfair fight.
Gajeel got along with the girls, though the few there might have been. His hair is long so they loved braiding it and most of the girls planned on becoming hairstylist or makeup artists. Gajeel would go over to their dorm and they would practice makeup on him and even call him cute because according to them he had girlish features. He thought they were mad. There was nothing cute or girlish about him. These girls were his distraction from his harsh reality at home and school, and he really appreciated them. A lot.
When he hung out with the girls he tend to pick up their tendencies, like pouting and it stuck with him. At one point when the leader of his bullies were alone with him, he tried to kiss Gajeel. Gajeel hit him in the 'you know what' and high-tailed it out of there. He only wanted to be kissed by Bixlow.
One of the girls had a YouTube channel and he was in a video called 'Transforming My Boy-Friend Into A Girl + Chit Chat'. All his girl friends were in it helping her and talking and it slipped out that he had a crush on his childhood friend and while he did not say who, he made a mistake and said a gender pronoun. Something like, "he doesn't know that.." and his friend did not cut it out in editing and he thought nothing of it at the time. To him only girls and people interested in makeup and hair would watch the video. No. Gajeel was in the thumbnail and a bunch of people from school saw it. His friend was actually really popular and most of the school was subscribed to her.
Now the fact that the principal's son was gay spread like wildfire. Gajeel wanted to die and he almost did. Jose beat him badly for soiling his reputation. Gajeel ran out the house covered in blood and his neighbour saw him. Jose quickly took him inside and chained him up in the basement. He was probably there for some hours. Then all he remembered was being carried away in an ambulance. It was not the first time Jose had him in chains while he was battered. Sometimes he was left for days without food, and when he returned to school the teachers would always say, "hope you're over the flu," or "hope your stomach ache is better". Jose would tell his teachers excuses when he did not attend school.
Gajeel was adopted when Jose was put away. The officer that rescued him adopted him. His name was Metalicana. Gajeel was grateful, also for the fact that Metalicana did not let him go to Phantom Lord High. He knew most of the children he knew would be going there and he could not stand the looks of pity. However, he still keeps in touch with the girls. Metalicana knew about the bullies too so that could have aided his decision. He was clear with his dad. Yes, Gajeel had no problem calling him dad because he deserved it, he was nothing like Jose.
Gajeel told him that he was gay and that he was a dragon slayer and that he had a crush on Bixlow. On the first day of FT High he was so nervous to see Bixlow in person, his dad even wished him luck and traced his palm to calm his nerves. It is a trick Metalicana has been using when Gajeel have panic attacks or he is in a bad situation.

Gajeel woke up and saw his dad smiling down at him. He got up ignoring the pain and hugged him tightly.
"Now you better tell me who did this, so I can have a lovely chat with them!"
