2 hours; 45 minutes later

Of course, here I am trying to fly to enemy territory, above ground, and my wings are tangled in vines. I didn't sleep last night, i flew till dawn then landed on a branch to rest my wings and mind. I'm not used to flying that much, so I got tired fast. However, i'm gonna keep this up. If I wanna find Jade fast, i'm going to have to push myself. I woke up tangled like this, must've been from all my tossing and turning. I knew I was on someone's territory, just not my own. I passed the town that my pack owned, and flew over 4 small others. They looked like human villages but, i didn't risk landing there. Okay, back to the task at hand. Simple right? I should just be able to shift, my wings will leave, and i'll be able to climb down and start moving again. I felt the shift start as I closed my eyes, but there was a sharp pain in my back. It was only there for a second so I assumed It was just my wing being forced out of the vines. It was more then likely scratched or, worse case the vine was to tight, it was popped out of place. I opened my eyes and went to try to climb down, cause jumping from here would definitely hurt my leg. Then i'd be hopeless, god and goddess' forbid that happen. However, i felt slightly heavier, like when you overfilled your backpack and it just hung on your shoulders. I looked back to see what it was, and i had to clamp my hand over my mouth to stifle a scream. My wings were folded against my back tightly, still caught in the vines. I wasn't just panicking, i was half conscious from excitement. It was my ream when i was younger to fly around like my favorite book character, Maximum Ride. However, i was mostly panicked.  How would I be treated at school, what if the government took me away for having them? I took a deep breath.

"Okay Autumn, breath. You need to find Jade. You can worry about yourself later. Okay, breath."

After giving myself a small pep talk, I looked at the ground below me.

"Hmm, maybe if I..."

I remembered moms voice in my head, teaching me how to fly.

"Unfold them, full length..."

I focused on the tension in my back, then i felt my wings unfold slowly. I sighed, it was just like the book said. It felt relieving to not have them to compacted together, and spread wide. Okay, what came next?

"Try moving them up and down."

Okay, except, that was when they were naturally aimed downward, so lets try moving them front and back. Of course, that worked, it was just as easy as when I was a wolf. I decided I'd learn more about my wings later. I decided, lets try to use them...

"I'm so dead...." i whispered to myself.

I closed my eyes, and stood on my tip toes, slowly feeling myself fall.I felt the wind rush past my face, and i took the risk of opening my eyes. The ground was only about 6 feet away. I waited...

5 ft

4 ft

3 ft

2 ft.

Now!

I unfurled my wings as fast as i could, and forced them down quickly. I shot upward, past the canopy of leaves, and into the fresh open air. The book said everything. I felt free, and the adrenaline rush from falling was amazing! I shook my head to remember my mission, and remembered the my first meeting with Alpha Louis, trying to keep his scent and territory in mind.

~FlashBack~

I was a small child, about 4-5 years old, and I was meeting Alpha Louis because I had to go with my dad to a meeting. We were half at war with Louis' pack, the 'Army' as we called them. They were fierce fighter, and wanted nothing but power and territory. My brother called Louis Hitler for the longest time. Of course, i didn't know him as Louis for that. Being the 4 or 5 year old i was, I thought Hitler was his real name and was terrified of him. As I walked through the halls of Louis' run down pack house, I thought about escape routes just in case. Then, i came face to face with him. His face had a devilish grin, and he looked angry about nearly everything. His eyes were a light sky blue, i swear he looked like the typical bad guy from a bad anime to me. Handsome and yet creepy as hell.
