~dream starts~
I open my eyes, but I don't see much. I look over to my right, and I only see a cracked stone wall. A centipede crawls down the wall and disappears into a crack in the floor. To my left, there's a girl with long tangled reddish blond hair. Her skin is battered in scars and bruises, rings of rusty metal around her wrists, her legs and arms doing their best to try and pull them off. The only light in the room is given off by a large hole in the center of the ceiling. She whimpers and grunts, struggling against her restraints.
"Let me go! This is pointless, I won't tell you anything! And my pack isn't going to come for me! They don't even know I'm gone, idiots! Do ya hear me?!"
As those words leave her mouth, I recognise who it is... Jade
~dream ends~
My eyes spring open. A thin layer of sweat painted across my face, mixing in with the feeling of anxiousness. I look to my right, and I only see Adrian sleeping soundly, her sister curled up on her chest. I sigh, and chuckle.
"Just a dream..." I told myself, but I knew that wasn't what it was. It was a power I didn't know I had, seer. A seer has visions, or in some cases like mine, dreams of those that need them. Weather it'd be a wounded animal, or a lost child. Seers exist to help those in need. In fact, most seers are a healer's apprentice, or a healer themselves. They typically live in Indian tribes or alone.
"Looks like I was made for this, Jade." I whisper to myself.
"Who's Jade?" Itzamna asks, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
I looked over at her, and I knew what I had to do. I sighed, getting ready to endure her questions and begging.
"She's my cousin. And uh, not all that long ago she was taken." I told her, tears welling in my eyes.
"Oh..." she looked down, waiting to hear more. An awkward silence filled the air, so I decided to tell her.
"I... I know I said I wouldn't leave b-but I.... I have-" she cut me off, sadness filling her voice.
"You have to go save her... don't you? Is that it? You need to save your cousin who, from you've told me and Adrian, you JUST met?"
I froze. I didn't expect her to snap at me like that...
"Itzamna... I'm sorry but I can't leave family behind... I'll come back for you, I promise'"
The look on her face faded. She looked emotionless.
"Don't bother... You'll just leave us again..."
That stung a little. I was coming back whether she wanted me to or not. She handed me my bottled water, clothes and food in a bag.
"I thought we would keep moving together, head farther into the woods or something. So i packed your stuff... So now you can just go..." she said through ragged breaths, fighting back tears.
We'd spent almost a week together, but that's why I needed to do this. It's been a week and a half since Jade went missing and she thinks no one's looking for her. I stare at Itzamna, not believing what I'm hearing.
"Didn't you hear me... I SAID GO!" She yelled, her voice full of rage and sorrow. She ran at me, knocking me towards the window. I fell out, falling around 4 feet before opening my wings and flying away, towards enemy territory, towards Jade.
-----
I've been flying for about 3 hours, and I'm still pretty far from Alpha Louis' main bases. At this rate it would take at least another 4 days to reach the Golden Fortress, then another 2 to find their new hideout. Three if they were well hid. My stomach growled, interrupting my train of thought.
"Shit" I sighed, landing on a rooftop I pulled out a bag of chips and water bottle. I quickly ate up and took off again.
---My eyes burned from the tears. I miss the girls, but I cant go back. I'm so close.
I blink, but my vision gets blurry. I try to slow down, but its like my wings are stuck on autopilot. I blink again, sighing in relief as my vision clears, barely missing a turn to the left. I smile as a reach another town, landing in a dark alleyway. I put my sweater on, pressing my wings harshly against my back to hide them. I walk down the streets till I see a run down house. I smile and walk up to it, keeping to the shadows. I enter, seeing it still in tact, but nothing inside. I walk into the corner of what I would assume to be the living room and curl up, sighing as I feel the summer heat radiating on the concrete floor.
"Autumn! You've been flying for, like, 12 hours straight! Its been a week since you've flown an hour! You need to rest." A feminine voice yelled.
"Whoa, who said that?! Hello?!" I said allowed. I hear nothing but silence for a moment, before the voice answers.
"S-sorry! I didnt mean to alarm you! U-umm.... I-its me..." She studders out. Suddenly, I recondise the voice, my eyes widening as I stand up.
There in the window, was a girl with pale skin, greyish-blue eyes, with blond hair, the ends fading into a deep royal color of purple.
"E-ERIN?!"
(Chamuel17 no regrets!)
