When I wake up, I'm in a hospital. My whole body aches, and my heart is pounding, but I'm alive. How am I alive?
I don't remember much about the plane crash, but I do remember that I was trapped under a plane, and Mark came to try to help me but we both knew it was hopeless. And then he collapsed.
I begin to panic. I press a button that calls a nurse to my room, and a woman comes into my room a few moments later.
"Oh, you're awake!" she exclaims. "Do you want me to bring your friends in to say hi?"
"Where's Mark?" I ask.
"Mark Sloan? He had a surgery two days ago. He had a cardiac tamponade, but the surgery went well and he should be fine," she replies.
I sigh, and it feels like a weight has been lifted off my chest.
"You had a few surgeries too. Your legs were pretty bad, but we managed to salvage both of them. Your lung collapsed, but we fixed that too. You'll start physical therapy next week, and you should be back to work in a few weeks," the nurse adds.
"Okay, thank you," I say. She left the door open when she came in, and I see Bailey and Webber talking in the hallway. "You can let my friends come in."
The nurse leads Bailey and Webber into my room. "I'll leave you three alone," she says and leaves.
"How are you doing Grey?" Bailey asks.
"I've been better," I reply and smile.
"We're happy to see you're okay," Webber says.
"How is everyone else?" I ask.
"Mark is recovering from surgery, and he's okay. Robbins has an infection in her leg, and it will probably have to be amputated. Derek's hand is pretty bad. Torres will operate on it when we get back to Seattle. Yang had a dislocated shoulder and Meredith had a pretty bad cut on her thigh, but they're both fine," Bailey explained.
We talk more about how everyone is doing, and Webber tells me that we have to take a plane to Seattle. I freaked out, but then he explained that we will all be sedated.
As soon as they leave, I realize that I am exhausted. Just having a conversation tired me out. I close my eyes and immediately fall asleep.
