"That was the best one hour of my life",
I thought as I passed through the corridor,
The classroom door being left behind,
It seems as if it happened just a couple of days ago,
But it's been two weeks since she sat by my side.
Every day, I see her coming through that classroom door,
I patiently wait for this moment day after day,
As she enters the room with her friends,
Laughing, giggling and smiling all the way,
Sometimes she looks at me and waves her hand,
And I just smile meekly for my body refuses to react.
"Dear god, is it never meant to be?"
I ask in my head every single moment since that day,
But I already knew the answer,
"No, it is never meant to be...
For she is pretty and I am a dork first-bencher"
But my love-struck heart refuses to accept it.
It was weekend and I was at the mall,
Striding my way to the book stall,
As I reached the book store,
I sensed a familiar figure beside me,
I turned to look,
And I saw the most beautiful face my heart beats for,
It was like an act of the universe,
A conspiracy of the guy upstairs,
She was standing right there!
"OH MY GOD! Is she really here?
Or is it just in my mind?"
My heart began racing and my breath was high,
Suddenly, she looked at me and my body tensed,
She was surprised, and greeted with a huge smile,
"Hi Kabir!! What are you doing here?"
Stumped I was, as I didn't know what to do!
I tried to speak but my throat had parched,
I mustered all my courage and said,
"Hi Anya... You look beautiful!"
This came as a surprise to her,
A momentary change in her expression had said it all,
"Damn it Kabir! Couldn't you have just kept quiet?!"
I cursed in myself in my mind.
The silence was short but awkward,
After what seemed like an eternity she smiled and said,
"Thanks Kabir",
And I saw her cheeks turning light pink.
We remained quiet for the rest of our time there,
She was totally engaged in her book,
While I stole glances of her concentrating look,
"She looks like a fairy when she's engrossed."
After about half an hour she got up to leave,
I smiled even though I was disappointed inside,
I wanted her to stay but I said goodbye,
I was looking at her as she was about to exit the store,
Suddenly she stopped and turned around,
She looked at me came over,
My heartbeats felt like tremors in my chest,
I tried to act natural and man it was tough,
She sat beside me and she said,
"Thank you Kabir for helping me with that problem that day,
But if I get stuck at something yet again,
Please give me your number for such a case if you may?"
I couldn't believe my ears,
It was like an act of the universe,
A conspiracy of the guy upstairs,
I didn't wait another second to give her my number,
She seemed pretty glad about this,
But she had no idea how many fireworks had exploded in my mind,
I wanted to sing and dance and rejoice to the maximum,
But I had to maintain my calm.
Finally, she said goodbye and walked away,
I watched her till she was lost amidst the crowd of the mall,
I sat on my chair looking at my phone,
"I'll sit patiently and wait for your call..."
