tyler's a restless sleeper, and because so, he rolled off of his bed around late morning. the fall woke him with a startle, and shortly following, the sound of jenna's laugh made way through his ears. he smiled and shuffles his way back into the bed. glancing around the room told tyler that jenna was reading in the love chair across the room.
"good morning babe," tyler spoke happily. jenna looked up from her book and smiled, and greeted tyler. she informed him that he had slept in pretty late, and that it was near noon. she also mentioned that his phone has been blowing up all morning, but she didn't bother checking them.
"well where's my phone?" tyler asked, scanning the room.
"oh, uh, it's on the floor by the nightstand holding the lamp. it must've fallen through the night or something," jenna answered. groaning, tyler dragged himself over the bed and reached down, stretching to grab his phone. scrolling through his notifications, tyler found many texts from josh's mother.
the first one basically asked what was up with josh. confused, he read the rest. she was asking if josh was ok because he was acting a little off when she called him. tyler looked up at jenna with obvious worry in his eyes.
   "what is it?" jenna asked.
"it's josh," tyler replied. "something's up."
tyler gave jenna a look that said i need to check on him. jenna understood, and let him call him .
tyler worriedly called josh , waiting patiently for josh to answer his phone . no answer . he called again, no answer. he asked jenna to call him . she did, no answer . meanwhile josh was sitting there , looking at his dry blood feeling no emotion. josh wanted them to care, but he didn't want them to know. torn between which path to take, he decides to cut through the middle and shoot tyler a text in attempt to assure him nothing is wrong. slowly moving his thumb, josh manages to type out hey tyler. sorry i didn't answer your call. just watching a show and didn't wanna pause it. what's up? he knew he was lying, but he didn't care. wasn't tyler and jenna's sudden interest in him was baffling, but he shrugged it off. it didn't feel as satisfying as he wanted.
Receiving the text, tyler jumps and reads with anticipation. he was annoyed that his calls had been ignored, but glad that he got an answer. anxiously, tyler thumbs up his keyboard trying to produce the right words. he ended up sending hey. are you okay? your mom is worried and said something was wrong. tyler was upset when forced to wait another 10 minutes before a reply. i'm fine. just stressed about the upcoming tour. the message from josh seemed to be lacking the usual peppiness he uses when conversing with tyler. He showed the conversation to jenna, and she analyzed every word.
"he seems off. but he did get home late last night and his anxiety usually his pretty high before shows. maybe give it a week or two and see how he acts." Tyler thought about her words and quietly agreed. he then laid back in bed and turned on the TV.
When tyler didn't reply, josh assumed that he dropped the issue. that picked at his nerves, that he didn't see through his best friend's lies. josh glanced at the razor , then quickly turned his head away. he felt guilty already, adding to that at this moment would only make things worse. but would it? yes, josh decides. josh removed himself from the scene before his mind could take over, and he ended up in the kitchen. on habit, he poured himself a bowl of frosted flakes before the tone of his imessage went off. at first he thought it was tyler, but when jenna's name was written in his notifications, his heart stopped for an unhealthy amount of time before starting again. josh opened the message instantly, which is unusual because normally he reads it from the notifications bar beforehand so he can plan out a reply. he didn't wanna be that way with her.
havent talked in a few weeks. feels weird because you're usually here everyday. i'm now noticing that you're not here and i want to clarify what's going on? are you okay? you just don't seem normal. i might just be overreacting but i'm concerned. you don't have to respond, just wanted to say something. you say it's about tour so i believe you. i'll give you some time to cool down, okay? hope you feel better. josh wasn't sure if she meant it when she said he didn't have to reply, but he sure hoped she did, because he didn't. he left her on seen. it bugged him, but soon the taste of cereal distracted him.
