Chapter Three

We crouched in the bushes, about 3 feet away from the entrance to the bridge.

Lillipup had found some berries to snack on while we waited for the sun to set. It wouldn't be long now.

As soon as night fell, the tourist would leave and we would be able to sneak unseen onto the bridge.

"I hope this works." I say, flicking my tail uneasily.

"Why wouldn't it?" Lillipup grinned. "We can be stealthy...."

I shrugged, still worried. Who knows how much time I have before Team Flare finds me?

I settle down to sleep. Might as well rest.

Lillipup nudged my shoulder. "Wake up Static! It's night, the last tourist just left!"

I stand up and look at the bridge. The lights were out, which means no one will see us. I smile.

"Let's go." Lillipup eyes glint with excitement.

I nod.

He leads me along the side of the bridge, showing me where to jump and hide from the search lights.

Aside from that, the view was beautiful. The sea stretched out below them, glinting with the light of the moon.

"Oh, Crobat, I think we found her...come on, Static...you can't hide now..."

"STATIC. HELLO? STAAAAAAAAATIIIIIIIIC?"

I jumped.

Lillipup rolled his eyes. "You can't just zone out like that. Here I was, explaining where to go once we reach the city, and I turn around and you're just standing there, like 'Hi, I'm dead!'"

In spite of everything, I snorted. "I'm not dead, I just...I'm just having bad flashbacks."

He shrugged. "Just hurry, we are almost there."

I followed at a jog. "What is the city again? Caspilla? Caddica?"

"Casstillia* City."

Casstillia. Olivia has said something about Casstillia. Something about a professor who visits regularly.

I shrugged. Maybe I will remember.

" We almost there? I'm getting hungry." I call. My belly rumbles in agreement.

"So am I. Lucky, this is the last stretch."

As he spoke, the sky line came into view. The lights brightened the sky, blocking out the stars.

"That's...huge. And very pretty." I gape at the buildings.

"It's also our food source. So hurry up!" Lillipup called, running the last little bit and entering the city, with me right behind him.
