As Jenni and Hunter continued talking I headed towards my art class. I ran into Mark, my male best friend since basically birth. We did everything together. "Hey, how was the doctors today?" He asked. You could tell he was concerned about me by his tone.
"Just another pint..." I said.
"They can't keep taking so much blood, it will make you worse!" Mark replied. Mark was one of them people that even if you fell out with him he would still be there when you need him. He was the most genuine, down to earth guy ever.
"I guess they can do what they want. There's nothing wrong with me anyways..." I said, reassuring him.
"So, have you met the new guy?" He changed topics knowing that I didn't want to talk about my illness.
"Hunter?" I asked.
"I'll take that as a yes," he laughed. We arrived at class, luckily we were sat together in art. We went to our seats and carried on with our conversation. "What do you think of him then?" Mark said, grabbing his art book out of his bag.
"He's... alright I guess." I hesitated. Mark raised an eyebrow. "What's that for?"
"Nothing! It's just, he's like Jenni."
"What do you mean like Jenni?" I asked, getting a bit agitated.
"Drinks, smokes, gets high, parties, steals."
"I drink and smoke..." I said trying to stand up for Jenni.
"And that's why you keep finding yourself in the hospital nearly every day. Look, by drinking and smoking, you're not making things any better!"
"I know. We've had this conversation before." I stood up from my seat. Mark gently grabbed my hand.
"I just care about you."
