comforting through the phone
Harry: It was just one of those days. From the moment you woke up, you knew it was going to be a bad day. It seemed as though everything bad that could happen, did. Twenty times over. When you finally arrived back home for the night, you threw your pajamas on and plopped on your bed, dialing the familiar number. "Hello?" There was muffled music in the background before it turned silent with a slam of a door. "Sorry babe, Niall dragged us to a pub and, yeah. How are you?" Letting out a long exhale, you repositioned yourself so you were laying on your back, your fingers running through your hair. "Sucky," You muttered. "School was horrible, work was terrible, and the homework sitting on my desk is catastrophic." You could almost hear the smile in his face as he sang, "But there are only three more weeks until I get to see you agaaain. And then when you have another bad day I could run you a bath and make you dinner and wait on your every demand - and I mean every," Chuckling at his own cheekiness, he compromised, "But until then, you gotta stick through it, love. I know you can."
Liam: "I'm just going to quit," You concluded, throwing your binder across your bed. "I'm going to fail out of college and I'm never going to amount to anything, so I'll just live in a small apartment I can afford with my McDonald's paychecks and have, like, fourteen cats." He couldn't help but let out a loud laugh. Again, you had called him, complaining about the amount of homework you had to get done for the night, telling him some absurd outcome for your future. "You know I would never let that happen, right?" He asked once his laughter had died down. "You're a smart girl, I know that because it's one of the reasons why I fell for you." A blush slowly crept across your cheeks. "Just like I tell you every other time, you've gotta take breaks in between subjects, love. I know it's a lot of work due in a little time, but I also know you're capable of doing it. Once you put your mind to something, you don't quit until you've finished it. Again, another reason why I love you." There was a brief silence, allowing you to soak in the words, before he spoke up. "Besides, you know I'd take care of you."
Louis: Opening your eyes for the first time that morning, you let out a sigh suffocated by sorrow. It was another one of those days where all you wanted to do was curl up in your blankets and sleep until you couldn't any longer. But with class in an hour and work afterward, you knew you had to get up eventually. Suddenly, your ringtone blared, breaking your train of thought. "Hello, love!" You heard through the speaker. He always sounded so happy when he called, you couldn't help but smile. "Hey," You murmured, "what's up?" There was a bit of shuffling on his end of the phone before he replied. "Nothing, just got back from interviews. And how are you, babe?" Involuntarily, you let out a groan. "Another one of those days, huh?" You nodded despite knowing he couldn't see you. "Well keep your chin up, babe. You've got how many days left of school? Thirty-something? It'll fly by faster than you know." Regardless of his normally playful personality, Louis was always your voice of reason whenever needed. "And with work, you love it! So don't even try complaining because I know you love having any excuse to be around puppies all day." You hummed, nodding your head once again. "I love you," was all you could murmur as you pulled yourself out of bed.
Niall: "Pick up, pick up, pick up," You said under your breath. It was below freezing outside in the December night; the sun had already set and there was a sudden breeze every few moments that felt like icicles against your skin. "Hello?" Letting out a sigh of relief, you huddled further into your sweater. "Niall! Thank God you answered." You breathed, pressing the phone closer to your ear. "What's up? Are you alright?" There was a bit of panic in his words but you were quick to dismiss it with a light laugh. "I'm fine, babe. I just.. Hm." Your eyes fell on the lit 'open' sign of the club, the music rumbling through the cracks of the door frame. "I was forced to go to a club tonight and I guess I'm just not feeling it because I miss you and I'm tired. I should have just stayed home and slept." Using your shoulder to keep your phone against your ear, you tried rubbing your hands together to create some warmth. "Oh, baby," He cooed. "I'm sorry. I miss you too, but you gotta let yourself have some fun sometimes, yeah? Just live a little bit for tonight, I'm sure your friends miss you since you're usually working and busy with school." You tilted your head a bit, knowing he was right. "'Sides, I'll see you in a few. Don't worry, I'll be back with you before you know it."
Zayn: "They're just so aggravating, Zayn!" You grumbled into the phone. With a few days off from school, you decided to surprise your family with a visit. Although you love them all, there was a part of you that realized why you had chosen to go so far away for school. They were a bit overbearing at times. "I know, love." There were a few shut doors and a shuffling of comforters before he spoke again. "But you haven't seen them in months. I'm sure they just miss you. And they know they've only got a little bit of time with you until you go back to school and leave for another four months. They're just trying to catch up," He stated. Crossing your arms over your chest because you knew he was right - but would never audibly admit it - you only let another groan leave your lips. "You know I'm right," He gushed; you could picture that large grin plastered across his face, where his eyes will crinkle and the corners of his mouth will reach his ears. He loved being right. "Shut up," You simply muttered under your breath.
