"Uriah? Never heard of him."

"Never?" I asked.

Daniel shook his head. "Amy, have you ever heard of a Uriah?"

She shook her head. "I don't know any Uriahs. Why?"

I shrugged. "I had a dream about a Uriah and I was just curious. He didn't come to our school anyway." Well, that was an awful lie.

Kathryn waved me over. Daniel watched us walk away, a curious look on his face.

"You're such a bad liar," she said as she plopped down on the couch. "Who's Uriah?"

I blushed a little.

"Ooh." She sat forward, already grinning.

I sat down. "So I went out to get some fresh air last night. I bumped into him. He's super attractive. Then he walked me home. Then..." I was anxious to tell the last part.

"Then what?" she asked.

"Then he kissed me."

"Sorry, what?!"

"On the forehead!" I assured, putting my hands out.

"Still!" She covered her mouth in excitement. Then she realized something. "Wait what about," her voice dropped, "Nathan?"

I looked to the ground. "I don't know. I can't decide."

She sighed. "As much as I hate to say it, give the new guy up. You're never going to see him again. Besides, he doesn't know what you are."

I nodded. "Okay." I noticed with a stabbing pain that she said what I was, not who I was.

"Now if you don't mind," she said, "I'm going somewhere with Daniel tonight and I need to get ready."

I nodded. "Good luck."

"I don't need it," she said scoffingly. "I have a hot boyfriend. Can't get much more luck than that."

I laughed. "You have a point."

"That he's hot?"

"You wish. Go get ready, lovebird."

She grinned and left.

Nathan got a haircut. He didn't tell anyone until he had already done it. I remember him walking into the kitchen, his hair newly cut. My heart jumped. He looked far more attractive with a cleaner cut. It was still long but not hanging in his eyes and on his neck. Instead, it stuck out above his ears. His big brown eyes were easily visible now. He looked younger, for sure.

When he first walked in, Andrew, Kathryn, and I were talking. We stared at him subconsciously. He looked a little embarrassed and pushed past us towards the cupboard for the breakfast he had missed that morning.

"What happened?" Kathryn asked.

"What do you mean?" he asked. "I needed it trimmed for basketball, so that's what I did."

"Yeah," Andrew said, "but look, your eyes are actually visible now."

I rolled my eyes. "Shut up, you guys. He can do what he wants."

"Ooh," Andrew said. He started making little hearts with his hands and I blushed, trying not to let it show. I gave Kathryn the Save me look.

She punched Andrew on the arm. "Shut up, molestia," she said. He looked between us, perplexed. I gave her another look and she dragged Andrew by the collar out of the kitchen, Andrew fake choking the whole way. Finally, it was just me and Nathan.
