"At least it's not broken." My mother's beautiful blue eyes glance at me in the rear view mirror.
I scoffed as I look down at my left foot, now wrapped in bandages, along with the crutches I'd be using in the seat next to me.
"It's still sprained though." I state quite bluntly.
"Not for long though..." I saw my mom roll her eyes dramatically as she kept driving.
I looked back down at my foot, observing my injury.
The foot itself was quite swollen all around my ankle and along the top of the foot itself, a bit along the side as well. The skin was a little discolored in places. Some blues and purples and pinks and reds, all mixed and matched in blotches to make an interesting artwork...that is, my sprained ankle.
It really wasn't that bad, to be sure.
*Flashback*
"Alex come on! We have to start practicing for soccer anyways!" I hear my best friend Connor yell at me across the gym, standing next to my other best friend Jacob.
It was Friday afternoon and school had just gotten out. I was ready to go home and have a nice relaxing weekend...before these bozos decided to force me into practicing soccer with them.
I walked calmly across the gym floor to meet them.
I took in a deep breath.
'Come on, you can take an hour or so out of your time to play some soccer with your friends!' My conscience yelled at me.
I don't want to, I want to go home.
'No! Just go and have fun!'
Ugh, you're such a pain!
'Well I'm you so...'
Connor, Jacob, and I now stood on the soccer field beside our school. They were passing a ball to each other while I pulled on my tennis-shoes.
I would wear cleats, but you know, I wasn't planning on playing soccer today, so..oops.
"Alex comin' to you!" Connor yelled at me as I stood up.
He pulled his leg back and swung it forward, launching the black-and-white ball towards me.
I simply turned my foot to the side, catching the ball with the inside of my foot. I'm nothing fancy, I can't do any tricks or anything, just simple soccer skills.
I kicked it back at him as I walked over to them.
It continued like this for a bit until Jacob had the 'great' idea to practice some two-v-one.
So it was decided that me and Jacob would play first against Connor on goal. We just had to get one goal to win.
Simple right?
Yeah, not so simple. Things got...complicated.
I kicked off to Jacob as we ran towards the goal, doing an occasional pass to each other.
As we neared the goal, Jacob acted like he was going to the side but quickly passed it to me on his left, while darting to the right.
Of course Connor, being the smart-guy he is, didn't fall for it and rushed to me as I got the ball.
I placed my foot on the ball to role it to the side as Connor ran at me.
Now be aware that it had sprinkled a bit earlier that morning, so the field was still a bit wet. Put that together with me not wearing cleats, and... well, you get the idea.
