I awoke to find myself back on the forest floor.
My head was pounding a bit as I slowly sat up.
I looked around but didn't see Chester anywhere.
"Chester?" I called out.
Darkness and silence were my only response.
I started to get nervous.
Why would he just leave me here by myself? I'm still in the woods so where is he?
I noticed a small light shining from behind me.
I let out a sigh of relief as I turned.
"Chester thank god--" I started but froze as my gaze met red glowing eyes.
Fear flashed through my body like a flood as the animal from before let out another growl, blowing my hair around crazily.
I saw the paw raise once again, it's claws dripping with blood.
My blood.
I quickly raised my hands to try and protect myself.
"Chester!" was all I could scream before I watched in despair as the claws slashed through the air heading straight for my face.
My life flashed through my eyes as those sharp claws neared my fragile skin.
"CHESTER!" I shot up, awake, and screaming.
I felt tears steam down my face as my arms flung around someone's neck.
I pulled myself close, the image of the claws heading for my face still burning bright in my mind.
I slowly opened my eyes, taking a couple of seconds for my vision to clear of tears, to find myself in a room.
My eyes flicked down a bit, my body not moving an inch, and I found myself sitting on a bed.
My eyes moved up and around to what I could see.
There was a window on the wall to the left with a small bookshelf under it filled with books. In the corner to my left I could make out the edge of a nightstand next to the bed. My eyes moved to the wall ahead of me as they found a dresser with more bookshelves around it.
I took a deep breath and slowly loosened my arms around the person, as I pulled back.
I was met with Chester's dorky grin and glistening eyes only inches from mine.
"Hey." He breathed out gazing into my eyes.
I let out a small smile.
"Hi..." I whispered back.
He reached up and around the back of his head, taking my hands in his, and gently bringing them to lay on my lap. My eyes followed his as he lowered himself to his knees on the ground.
He kept one hand on mine as the other raised up to my face and wiped away the tears still resting on my face.
"What's the matter?" He asked softly.
I blinked a couple of times before my mouth opened.
"I...I had dream that you left me in the woods...and the monster found me and..." I trailed off as tears started forming in my eyes again at the thought. I didn't even care if I sounded like a weak little girl, at this point, I was trying to overcome the shock of how a dream could actually hurt me.
He immediately raised his hand once more to wipe the tears from my eyes.
"Don't worry Alex, you're safe. I'd never do that to you." He gave me a reassuring smile.
