Alex' head is buried deep in a book. She is in a cafe drinking bubble tea. She smirks at a line which she read from the book then is reaching for her bubble tea but she feels the table and it isn't there. She frowns and looks up to see somebody holding it up. Her face brightens up with surprise.
"amelia" she exclaims "hi alexa" amy says back. "Surprised to see you here. You still come here?" Amy asked "yeah... i do" alex replies. "it feels like forever, i remember how we both stopped by here everyday after school to get coconut bubble tea" amy says as sits next to alex "Yeah, good times" alex says looking at her cup of tea then down to the floor.
She exhales and raises up her head with a stamped smirk, "how are you amy? We lost touch for such a long time". "Yeah, well I've always had the feeling that you were mad at me" amy says looking at her fingers which she placed on her laps.
There is a silence, then alex speaks up " i was hurt. And maybe i still am a little bit but, not really because of you. It was all ly's fault".
"Yeah... but it was my fault too. I don't think you even know the whole story. I..." "don't worry" alex cuts in " it's in the past. And i know I'm letting go, ly called me two days ago telling me he's sorry and that he wants me back. And all the while i was just happy that he showed me who he really was before i fell in even more".
"Wow" amy says "he called you, he really is a jerk". "Yup" alex says as she sips her bubble tea. They both spent the hour reminiscing old times and laughing thier hearts out.
"Wait where's lee?" Amy asks "uhh she went to her art gallery to check on stuff, she'll be here in an hour" alex says. "Right... i... kinda need some advise..." amy says "hmm regarding what" alex asks while pulling down her imaginary pair of reading glasses.
Amy giggles and says "well... there's this guy... "oh boy" alex says rolling her eyes "two guys actually" amy continues. Alex looks at amy, eyes twitching. This makes amy laugh so hard, alex with all seriousness then asks
"two guys?" "Yeah." Amy says, "okay... go on" "well I'm kinda, sortta finding it hard to choose between them" alex rolls her eyes again and says
"oh, that kinda problem. Well you just have to examine each one to know who's got the qualities that matter, does he respect you, care about you, encourage you positively, listen to you, miss you, think about you, protect you?" "Amy sighs and says
"yeah... i know, but they are both nice and 'marsh' would have been the best choice but..."
alex's face which was a bit stern but filled with concern immediately brightens up, and a new expression of surprise takes over. Then she asks, "whats his name?" "Marsh" amy says, "ohh, marsh" alex says almost mutteringly, looking down at the white tiles of the cafè as if trying to recall something really important. Then she adds "i think i remember him from the party, he seems nice". "Yeah" amy says with a smirk, and almost immediately after she smirks her face is filled with concern. alex peers in with all curiousness then asks "whats wrong?" "its not that big of a deal" amy said, but alex persists then amy continues "well you see, marsh is kinda sick, it dosn't show much but sometimes i get very worried about him" sadness overwhelms alex and she almost shudders when she asks
"whats wrong with him?"
Amy is surprised by her genuine concern, and so is Alex because she feels as though marsh is someone she'd known for a really long time, it even freaks Alex out herself. Amy stared at the table then the floor, then up the cieling before she said "he has sickle cell anaemia."
Alex felt so bad, sadness overwhelmed her concerned look. "He may not have a lot of time left" Amy added, Alex felt a chill run down her spine and all that came out of her was "wow". Alex had always had a deep concern for people, but this was different, unexplainably different.
